The show reminds me of the original first season. Not that the original was bad, but it was fine for the time. Now when I watch the older seasons with ADA Stone and how they were just trying to find their footing, I feel the same watching the 2022 season. It falls flat in so many ways and Cameryn Manheim is just not doing it for me at all. I miss Van Buren, but she's on another show run by Wolf and apparently will be in the L&O/FBI universe somehow?
Maybe it'll get better, but it's still a mid-season replacement, so they may have a chance to learn from feedback and make adjustments.

Law & Order got renewed, as did the other two shows. Even with how bad the reboot is, it doesn’t surprise me. Hoping the regroup during hiatus and get some better writers for next season. This article sums up my thoughts. Though, I did think Thursday’s episode was one of the better ones this season. Of course, it’s a low bar. All the Tuesday FBIs were renewed as well so I think that pretty much cements that neither Alana de la Graza nor Jeremy Sisto could make an appearance. And given how bad the reboot is, I’m really leaning toward not wanting Linus Roache anywhere near it.

Sorry for the double post, though it’s been close to two (!) years so I’m thinking it’s OK. I actually forgot this thread existed and realized I never posted here about Sam Waterston leaving Law & Order. I was shocked when I heard, but not really surprised. The man is 83 after all. And while he’s saying he’s retiring from acting, I’m thinking he was pretty disappointed in how the reboot was going. At least that’s how I’m fanwanking it.
As for his final storyline, while it was great to see Jack McCoy in the courtroom one last time, it was an eye rolling moment realizing that Jack fell on his sword and resigned because the corrupt mayor threatened Nolan’s job. You just know that if that mayor had threatened Mike Cutter, he would have destroyed the mayor with precision in order to save Jack’s job rather than Jack having to save Nolan’s job. I miss those days.
Looking forward to seeing Tony Goldwyn taking over as DA though I would have preferred seeing anyone else from the past come back, like Cutter, or Jamie Ross or Paul Robinette.
