Ugh Antony Anderson was my least favourite of any of the cops of L and O. Quite possibly of any of the characters in a tie with Elizabeth Rohm. Wish they could bring back one of the others instead. His posturing character just felt so off. Isn’t he supposed to be a douche in real life too? He and James Corden have something similar in them. Chubby and instead of going the sweet teddybear route, went down the arrogant vindictive route.
I wonder why Jeremy isn’t returning. I can’t quite recall how it ended with his character, but I liked him, even if he didn’t reach the magic heights of previous cops like Lenny or Mike.

Jeremy Sisto and Alana de la Garza are currently starring in another Dick Wolf show. As is S. Epatha Merkeson (sp?). There could be a chance they may be able to participate in some way, shape or form given the Wolf Entertainment synergy, but who knows. Sam Waterson should be all done with Grace & Frankie, but the man is in his 80s. Would love to see him in some capacity though. Jeffrey Donovan has been cast as a detective. I reeeaally liked him in Burn Notice. Reserving judgment on how he’s going to fit in on this show. And if they wanted to cast a white, male British guy as an ADA, not sure why they just didn’t reach out to Linus Roache.

I watch Jeremy and Alana de la Garza on Wolf's FBI show. It's pretty good and nice to see them together. I think it's on CBS, right? Too bad it isn't NBC...could of had a quazi-crossover event like they're dragging out with SVU and Organized Crime. I'm excited to see Barba back in the next crossover episode, but he's supposed to be representing the slimy bad dude this time around.
I didn't mind Anderson on L&O when he was with Jeremy (Det. Lupo), but on his own? Meh.

Apologies for the double post but this is pretty big: Sam Waterston back as Jack McCoySo, looks like the cast is set. And no Linus Roache (:sobs:), S. Epatha Markeson, Alana de la Garza or Jeremy Sisto.

I watched the return of the Law & Order: Original Recipe (as it is known in my house) and I have thoughts.
Was the goal to make Cosgrove as unlikeable as possible? Because mission accomplished! All the detectives had their jerk moments but that seems to be Cosgrove’s entire personality. I hope this is just the writers trying to find their groove because I actually like Jeffrey Donovan.
Camryn Manheim’s character is just there. I miss Van Buren.
The new ADA has potential though I thought Price was an idiot of the highest order when he told McCoy he could win the case without the confession. No dude. All you had was a clean hoodie and a video of the defendant hanging out. And did Price really not see the jury wanting to acquit despite what law says coming? Dude, you’ve got an unsympathetic murder victim and a beyond sympathetic defendant! I’m amazed there was no attempt to plea down before trial.
Was I supposed to think Jamie was heroic when plead the fifth? I just kept thinking if she had called the police when Nicole told her of her plans then Nicole wouldn’t have wrecked her life. Is the show seriously implying Jamie Ross, a freaking prosecutor, learned of Nicole’s plan and just said, “Oh well!”
The entire interrogation I kept screaming in my head, “OMG! Shut up and get a lawyer!” And yes cops are allowed to lie to you to get you to waive your rights and talk. Can’t figure if the show thinks that is great or disturbing.
Finally, there was something very odd about the way the show was shot. I can’t explain it. Maybe Covid restrictions contributed to a bunch of wide angles and odd actor placements?

It was just plain dull.

I was so looking forward to it and I was so bummed it wasn’t good. Right off the bat, they changed the theme music. Everything felt forced. The writing was so disappointing. I’m really hoping it gets better. I’m a big fan of Jeffrey Donovan, loved him in Burn Notice. I feel like he was trying way too hard to not seem like Michael Westen, and he had this weird affectation to his voice. Camryn was ok, but could be better.
And maybe it’s my deep and abiding fan girl love for Linus Roache and his performance as Mike Cutter, but Hugh Dancy was just dull. I watched his first episode of Homeland and he had one scene (with Linus Roache interestingly enough), had like two lines and was infinitely more compelling than he was in Law and Order. I did think the woman who plays the Assistant ADA showed a bit of promise. But it was so different. Neither she nor Price seemed to do any investigation. I may watch the original episodes way too much but that’s what I love and wanted to see.
I’m going to continue to watch but Im not as excited about it as I was leading up to the premiere.
