I was just watching the first season, and I realized just how much the character of Rory has changed. I started watching the show during the later seasons, so I never realized what a stark difference there was. I love first season Rory- she's sweet and kind and shy and wears big sweaters. Now she's some fashionista who doesn't seem to care about anyone but herself. I still like the character of Rory though. I think Alexis Bledel used to be a much better actress then too. Maybe she cared more about the show or was less affected, but she really was more believable then. First season Dean was so much better too.

As horrible as the character of Rory is now, it's pretty realistic that a girl who was always told that she was the most specialist girl ever by her Mommy and Grandparents, was beloved by her entire town and had every boy who glanced at her fall madly for her might become a wee-bit self-absorbed...
Oh, wait, she has to keep her crappy apartment to maintain her "street-cred" and college sensibilities. Like, whatever Rory. You didn't care when you were dating Mr. Rich Boy or living in Emily's poolhouse, let daddy buy you a cool pad with his newfound dough.

I think people complained that Rory was too perfect, so they made her screw up to look more human. I think the change is more subtle when you watch the seasons in order, but comparing the first season with the eps of the 5th season I watched, there is such a stark contrast. Her downward spiral included dropping out of school, stealing, an affair with a married man. I think her next "bad boy" boyfriend will by the entire "duwop group" at her new apartment. Rory can be involved with drugs!

I think that wedding dress was one size too small for Lorelai. She's not "thin" as in Hollywood-thin - bony and skeletal. She's thin like a normal person would be considered thin, in that she still has some meat on her. When that sort of person wears something one size too small, it squishes the flesh out wherever it can, like the top of the dress. But yeah, the overly frou-frou bodice was yucky.
I did like the colour, though, esp. for an older bride. Sometimes older brides look silly in all that girlish gown getup.

I think I would like the dress much more if it wasn't so bumpy. One thing really bugs me: Why didn't Luke seem more upset that his ex not only kept a child from him for 12 years, but had been sleeping with two other men at the time?! I know Luke is supposed to be more mellow now, but come on! What guy is going to act that calm? And the "Well, I thought you didn't like kids" excuse was pretty damn lame. I hope to see more episodes with Rory at therapy, being called on her shit,as long as she isn't going to try to cry again, because, man that was awful! Best part of the episode? Lane and MamaKim having a drink-aww.

He knows he was one of three possibilities, so why isn't he more annoyed? Maybe he's just in shock... or maybe it's bad writing. Or maybe April KNEW all along (and so did the mom) that it was Luke and one of them just made up the others, and it was all a grand scheme to get Luke back into the kid's/their life all along.

Oh my god, I kind of want to stab Paris. I realize my university is a few steps down from Yale, but at our campus paper (which comes out once a week, not daily, but still...) people lie around on couches and eat pizza. And work. Shut up, Paris! I really don't think any paper on the face of the Earth is that picky. (Which I guess is the point... Paris is crazy.)

Well, yeah, Paris is the uber-bitch from hell, but that's why I like her. On TV, at least. If I ever met anyone like that in real life, I'd run away as fast as I could, just like any other person.
But you know what I've never gotten? Why Rory puts up with all of that. I get that Paris, on occasion, can actually be cool, but why put up with all that shit for those few-and-far-in-between moments?

Yeah, I don't know. I have a "friend" (read: roommate of a good friend -- I befriended the roommate before I knew better) who's like Paris in that she's bitchy and a pain in the ass to be around 95 per cent of the time and it's just... not worth it. I don't know why Rory keeps going back for more.
In other news, the kid? Slightly less annoying this time, but still made me want to stab the TV. I'm also really annoyed that Luke didn't tell Lorelai before, because sooo much drama could have been avoided -- he didn't know, he told her immediately, she could get over it because whatever, she has a kid from another person too. But no. We have to have the DRAMA. Which -- drama is fine, but when it's so OBVIOUSLY a plot device that could EASILY have been resolved -- it's annoying. I HATE when people don't tell each other things. That is WAY overused. Yell if you have to, but tell people things if they're important! Arg.
