Plus, in the overused "don't tell the secret" plot device, the one person who should know the secret ALWAYS finds out in an inappropriate way. It's never the person just sitting them down and saying, "Look, there's something I need to tell you. I put it off and shouldn't have, but here goes..." Aargh.
Does Yale really have a daily paper? Who would have time to read it? Wouln't a weekly be sufficient for a campus paper?

USC has a daily paper, so I'm going with, yes, Yale quite possibly would. From that, I'm going to take a crazy leap of faith and say it's more common at private universities (?) - maybe because of the funding issues?
Seriously, if people just told each other things, how would there be any Television? (I'm looking at you, Lost, for example)
I can't believe Lorelai had anything to do with Logan. Ugh. Does the actor have an ironclad contract or something?
It's horrible, but how funny would it have been if Luke said, "look, I have to delay the wedding - I checked the message boards and the dress sucked, okay?"
I'm glad Lorelai didn't completely blow up at him, but I don't like this passive approach either. This whole thing is lame - if next season is the last one, just let them get married, gosh darn it. Certainly there's a good season of conflicts left just navigating a new marriage, Rory dealing with her life, and the biggie - coming to terms with Richard and Emily, which seems like it should be the arc of the final season.

I was watching some of the extras on the season 5 dvds and it said that Amy Sherman-Palladino has had the very last lines written for the series finale for some time now. Any fun speculation?
I agree with you Hunter. There is only so much of this break up, get back together stuff I can take. Surely they can find other conflicts within their relationship. I want a Luke/Lorelai wedding damn it!
OT: University of Minnesota has a daily newspaper as well.

I've always thought the last lines would be something like "Bye Rory" as Loralei sends Rory off into the big bad world to become a famous correspondant (gag). Although it also wouldn't surprise me if they go for the title of the show and one of them says something stupid like "Through this all we will always be the Gilmore Girls!"

Or one of them has a baby, girl of course, and the line has something to do with now there's more Gilmore Girls.
since it's turned into such a soap lately, i could see this.
i wonder what the note to Rory said that made her be semi nice to Logan. "It would really piss off his family for him to date you" or "Play him like i plays em."

Yale has both a daily paper (the Yale Daily News) and a weekly paper (the Yale Herald).

Is it just me, or did the dress/cardigan combo Rory was wearing make her look about five miles wide? That's quite a feat for a stick-thin girl. All of her outfits were hideous in this episode. WTF was up with that jacket/scarf with the huge spots?
Oh, I should have Rory's problems. I wish my obscenely rich grandparents and father were arguing over who would pay my tuition.
Weird camera work and cuts in the last scene. WTF was that about?
I love Emily and Richard so much. They are awesome and I don't care what anyone says.

I too was wondering about that last bit of cut aways to various arguements during the evening. It just was too different than what they usualy do.
Luke and Loreli crap is already way too annoying. You can read Loreli's face like a book, how can he not see that she's upset.
I liked the town reaction to the daughter, gawking at her through the window, until Kirk came in, he has grown tiresome.
Still can't stand Logan, and hated the "he can write and work and comes through and saves Rory" shite.

I really liked that end bit with the arguing. It's like an entire night of family therapy, hashing out every little thing they ever fought about.
The last one, with Emily saying, "And why didn't you marry Christopher? You were 16; a baby needs a mother and a father," with Lorelai going, 'Oh my GAWD!" - well, I laughed out loud. Some issues just never go away.
I always think Rory dresses old. Lorelai dresses more trendy and young than Rory does.
I understand that she would wear proper dresses to the Friday night dinners, but she almost always wears frumpy stuff. Then, suddenly she'll be in a cute little jacket and jeans. I think the wardrobe person is a schizo.

That did make me laugh. Especially since it immediatly followe the whole gang laughing and getting along.
Honestly last night's ep fell flat with me until the fighting. I'm so tired of this "Will they or won't they?" plot with Loralei and Luke that I could scream. I honestly don't care. I'm so sick of it. I wanted them together but this whole "Now they're fighting!" crap just makes me want to rip my hair out. Especially since a nice long conversation would fix everything.
As for Rory, she's grown wearisome over the past two seasons and last night I honestly wanted to kill her. Since when did this show turn into Everybody Loves Rory? I think Alexis is a piss poor actress so sometimes I blame that for how Rory comes off but last night with her "Chop chop! Everyone! I am loveable and accomplished and even though I took a semester off and I am only a writer here and not a editor, everyone should listen to ME! Because I am RORY!" I wanted to choke her and her dumb dowdy dress.
If they're setting it up for Rory to take over as Editor of the paper I will kill someone. To jump from a reporter to an editor of a college paper when you're only a second year (or even a third year) is absolutely ridiculous. Hell, even at my shitty college the editors were almost always seniors. Plus, we also had a faculty advisor so that if the editor turned out to be a raving lunatic, you could go to the faculty advisor and they'd step in. Does Yale not have faculty advisors?
I especially loved Emily's smackdown of her with the "Well, you didn't stop the decorators and then you left without saying anything and I come home to find two strange men in the house." But Rory just gives a petulant little "Sorry!" Ugh. So much hate for her.
ETA: I was also annoyed at Loralei's shock that Rory would be disrespectful to her grandparents and not call them to tell them about the tuition change. Seriously, that shocks you? Loralei has been a rag to her parents most of her life with her daughter watching from a front row seat and she's surprised when Rory decides to be a snot to them? Gee, wonder who she learned that from.
