I've always defended Emily, personally. I always thought that she simply defended the order of life as she saw fit. However, I figured that since she easily orchestrated the breakup of Rory and Dean, she thought she could do the same with Lorelai and Luke. Makes perfect sense to me.
However, I am SO sure that two things are going to happen with Rory and Logan, which is precisely the reason I just don't care about all that stuff anymore. Logan's little breakdown at the party is because he's controlling, not because he's in love with Rory. I swear, if he gets whipped by Rory, I will never watch this show again (not that anyone really cares, but dammit, I like this show) because that's just not true to the character of Logan. Then, Rory is probably going to go back to Marty, who will completely reject her because "it's too late." For whatever reason, it doesn't matter what, really.
And the breakup of Lorelai and Luke? Pointless. The whole thing would have never happened if during the Christopher fiasco Lorelai had been smart enough to say: "Well, why didn't anyone just ask ME about whether or not we would be getting back together?" It would have been a better indicator to Luke at least that there was no foul play afoot with her.

But Luke and Lorelai aren't 20-somethings who don't know what they want. They're grown adults in their mid to late 30's who know exactly what they want. That's what makes Emily's schemes so annoying; she treats them like children who don't know their own minds. In fact, she actually came out and said (about Lorelai): "she doesn't know what's best for her." I think Richard said that at one point, too. I don't think Emily would have liked if it Lorelai had picked up the phone a few months ago and called Pennilyn Lott and said "hey, Pennilyn, my parents are separated, now's your chance" and justified it by saying to Richard "I'm just doing what's best for you."

This is true. But my original argument still stands. Emily sees her own life as it should be a particular way. Did you see the episode where she finally explains to Lorelai why she keeps firing maids? Emily has this strong will to shape her own life the way she sees it should be and almost never apologizes for it. Being monied certainly is a factor in all of this (meaning, she has the cash to back up what she wants, when she wants it. And oh, by the way she held plenty of sway over Lorelai when Rory was attending Chilton, no?). So, she's pretty much made a habit of getting her own way, no matter what the circumstance. I stand by my original assessment.

Did anyone catch last night's episode?
I can't believe Loreli backed down on that magazine article, her mother wouldn't have. Goodbye free advertising for your new inn.
Was Dean conversation with Luke foreshadowing of a realization that he and Loreli would never really survive a long term relationship?
Rory's drunken crying over Logan at the end was sad. What young girl hasn't cried like that over some guy.

First, some comments on last week's ep. - Lorelai deserved to lose that free advertising because that kind of mouthing off to a stranger about your mother is childish. - Dean and Rory are not the same thing as L&L. L&L are much older, with a pile of life experience behind them. Rory doesn't want to stay in Star's Hollow because she wants to be an international journalist, so of course, Dean's small town life will not appeal in the long run. However, Lorelai has already chosen to live in Star's Hollow and has made a life for herself there, complete with her own dream business. So Lorelai would be perfectly content with a Star's Hollow guy.
Now last night's ep. - Logan's parents' house is the bomb. Wow. I thought Rory was funny and appealing in her awe. - Paris's Nanny is the bomb, too. Such a mother-figure for Paris. Have they ever made any Paris/Paris Hilton jokes or references? - Sookie was a jerk. And, really, she does ALL the cooking for the inn, 3 meals a day, seven days a week? When does she see her kid or her husband? Who is taking care of the sauces and the duck when she's at a shower or shopping with Lorelai (things we've seen her do)?

Have to agree with you, Mugsy, on Sookie. They have alluded to her being a control freak about her kitchen, but it's true, girl is all over the place in town, someone has to be trusted to stir and simmer while she is not there.
Poor, Luke, taken advantage of again. I was hoping Loreli would whisper, thanks and I love you when he was nodding off, not what's up with your lamb chops?
I also enjoyed Alexis' acting last nite. She seemed more relaxed and with it, less mumbling if you will.
I bet there is more to the internship than an apology. Logan's dad seems awful shifty to me.

This season's Gilmore Girls feels like the old Gilmore Girls. I am loving it. Does the actress who plays Paris look pregnant to anybody else or has she just filled out in real life as she has gotten older?
Oh yeah I bet Logan's father has more up his sleeve than a simple internship. My nasty mind was thinking what would happen if he came onto Rory?

I didn't watch, but I read the recap on TWoP.
It's official, I'm never watching this show again. I'm sorry, I used to love it, but Logan wanting to be exclusive with Rory. ..that just sucks. It just doesn't feel true (already I've been annoyed with the Lorelai/Luke breakup...there's no reason why a person should get annoyed at a TV show for being so untrue). Unless someone says that it ended like I said it would (see page 1, when and if it should happen), I ain't watchin' no more.

While I loved this week's ep, despite it's faults (like no "I love you" yet again!) I was distracted by the fact that Gregg Henry (or his twin) played Logan's dad. I recognized him first from that older Mel Gibson flick Payback in which he plays a scum-sucking asshole. In fact, I was under the impression that quite horrible people were his general forte, causing me to scream in alarm when Rory accepted an internship from him. I think that's why I assumed right away that he had many ulterior motives and find her stupid for not seeing this.
Speaking of Rory's little internship, I'd been seeing the promos for a while and they all included a quirky little spot where Rory goes running through a building saying, "I'm an intern! I - I have ID!" but I didn't see that in the episode. Did I just miss it, or do they always advertise things which will happen perhaps two or three episodes down the road?

I liked this week's episode better than last week's. Sookie did get on my nerves, though.
