I've been watching the reruns in ABCF for the past few months, starting from the pilot. I find myself disliking Lorelai a lot on this rewatch. The immaturity, self-centeredness that takes on many forms, and the too-cool mom routine drive me nuts. I am enjoying seeing early, husky-voiced, all-around cool kid Rory; the non-entitled Rory who wouldn't be so rattled as to drop out of college, steal a yacht, become an Emily Jr., and get her damn way on everything.
I swear, I do like this show. The annoyance with The Girls depends on the season.

I just finished marathoning the whole show on Netflix. I have never seen such an amazing show have such a horrible ending. I should have listened to everybody that said stop watching after about halfway through season 6.
I was really surprised to see how much I was Team Christopher by the end of this. The writers ruined Luke (again, should have stopped halfway through season 6). He goes from this incredibly sweet guy that is madly in love to being this indecisive jackass. Christopher certainly had his moments, but he never seemed to waiver in how much he loved Lorelai and Rory. Once April turned up (and OMG did I hate her...for the third time, should have stopped halfway through season 6) Luke seemed like he suddenly didn't care about Lorelai at all. Until like the last three episodes of the final season, when the writers clearly had an "Oh crap, we need to get them back together again!" moment.
Speaking of Rory, once Logan showed up I found myself fast-forwarding through her scenes with him. She had awful taste in men; Dean was by far the nicest. The whole Jess thing made no sense at all.
Favorite character by far was Miss Patty. I also very much enjoyed Babette and Kirk.
(If anyone is reading this and hasn't watched the series yet...please, please, I'm begging you, don't watch season 7.)

My favorite character was Paris by far, she was far more equipped emotionally to handle life than Rory ever would be.

I'm just getting into this show on reruns, and I agree with you. I don't get the Dean hate and Jess love. Okay, so Dean was a little angry at times, but his girlfriend was basically two-timing him while denying that anything was wrong. I can't blame him for being upset.
As for Jess, Mr. I'm the Smartest Guy in The School, ugh.

They were both tools of equal measure at that point in the series so match made in spoiled heaven. Now Luke/Lorelei were epically awful together. A shit show. At some point I was only there for Emily.

Can I just say that I hated Luke and Luke/Lorelai and I thought Logan was actually a great boyfriend to Rory? Because yeah. Still, Emily/Michel/Richard>>>>

I haven't gotten to the Logan Era yet. Luke is such a dour killjoy and there's no discernible chemistry with Lorelai that I can see.
Is it me, or is Rory increasingly acting entitled?

I was probably one of the few that didn't like Luke and Lorelai together, I thought that Jason suited her better because he was a bit quirky like her.

I loved Digger! But in my opinion the chemistry between Luke and Lorelai throughout the entire run was off the charts. *runs and hides*

I felt that Luke and Lorelei had great chemistry during the early seasons but it was heavily dependent on the writing. I don't think Lauren Graham and Scott Patterson were one of those acting pairs that have natural smoking hot chemistry. Once the writers went off course with L/L, they were never able to recapture the early magic.
