You just said it the best, I really cheered for those two the first few seasons. I liked Digger because of his quirkiness and he was a lot like Lorelei a rich kid estranged from his family. I think that if Lorelei would have gotten over her hang ups they could have had something.

Dour killjoy is a great way to describe Luke. I never understood why Lorelai would be attracted to him (except that he cooks and does household repairs...big whoop). I also don't find the actor who plays him attractive which might be part of it. A backwards baseball cap on a grown man? No thanks.
Digger was always my favorite boyfriend of hers too, but I get why she broke it off with him when he sued her father. In my perfect Gilmore world Christopher would have never gotten Sherry pregnant and they would have been together from then on. Wouldn't work for plot development though, obviously.

I am marathoning on Netflix now (it's my first time watching the show) and am about halfway through the seventh season. At this point I feel I am sticking around for the sake of completing it as much as anything else, but then I feel that way about a lot of shows. I really liked/like Luke and Lorelai but at times I think they suffer from Scott Paterson being kind of one-note and, of course, the declining writing quality. Lorelai to me is an excellent example of why quirky people should not also be attractive--they will never learn to rein in the quirk. I really like Rory's spin out of control though, I went to a high school filled with Rory's, including my best friend, and they did all have a major derail around that time (less dramatic than dropping out, of course, but they also weren't on a TV show ).

I liked Digger too...Anyone but Luke really. It's funny to think that even Lauren hated Luke/Lorelai and always shipped Chris/Lor because rumor had it she didn't get along with Luke's actor. I HATE what they did to Christopher/Lorelai in S6. The show had always shown why they were perfect for each other but then that messy wedding/marriage just to facilitate a Luke/Lorelai reunion happened and no thanks.

I liked Luke and Lorelai's relationship before they got together. Friendly banter of two people who have known each other for years and "get" each other. A lot of that got lost when they got together. And then add the stupid plot line of the surprise daughter and hiding it from your fiance storyline and things derailed.

They worked as bffs and more of a BRotp but they had 0 romantic chemistry. It was painful to watch. Don't even get me started on Lorelai humiliating herself for that ass. Ugh!

Any thoughts on the famous "last four words"? The comments section of that article has some good ideas.
And some horrible ones - "I'm pregnant! Me too!" say Lorelai and Rory to each other. Blech. Because no woman under 50 can have a happy ending without getting pregnant.

Am I the only one that hopes that we get a more realistic version of Gilmore Girls? Just my opinion but I never saw the chemistry between Lorelai and Luke. Nor did I ever see Rory as a World conquer but just a talented smart girl, like many others that attended Yale. Ok what I would like, Lorelai with just a nice guy with a bit of quirk like her, I am the minority but I liked her with Jason. As for Rory, back with Jess. But please please bring back Paris and Doyle.

Part of me jumped for joy when I heard the news; the other part of me worried that the shark would be the one jumping (and not for joy.)
So many questions. How will the absence of Richard be handled? Have Emily and Lorelai finally stopped the "one-step forward, two-steps back" dance in their relationship? How will Alexis Bledel's pregnancy possibly fit in the show? And speaking of Rory, is she the bestest world-traveling journalist who ever bested, with the Ex Parade of Dean, Jess, and Logan all falling at her feet after all these years? Are L/L still bickering, but now with a set of eight year old twins? Is Lane stuck at home with the kids while Zach travels the world as a famous rock star? Will we get to see all the Townies? And Paris freaking Gellar!!
I worry about a lot of those things, and I think the part of me who wants to leave the future in my imagination is winning out. Of course, I'll totally still watch.
