I loved his comedy special on Netflix, and I thought his first segment on the Daily Show was awesome. He'll do a great job I think.

I just checked out his wikipedia page, and he has crammed a lot of showbiz/comedy experience in his 31 years. It looks like he's been working non-stop since he was 18. I agree that he will probably be just fine.

For me, it's the fact he's only 31. Which is the same age Jon Stewart was when he started (give or take 6 months). I think Trevor's pretty funny and I hope he puts his own stamp on the show instead of copying Jon's playbook.

I thought Jon sucked the first year or two he was in the chair. I think it's a job he had to grow into (same for Colbert).... Time will tell. I hope he does better than Larry. I'm not feeling him yet (but to be fair, my Colbert crush was/is astronomical... so he's fighting an uphill battle with me.)
I will give Trevor this. He's a cutie!! <3

I've only seen him on the UK Live at the Apollo, but he was fantastic on that (and also discussed his history growing up in SA as a mixed-race child). I think with shows like this -- especially when the previous host was on for so long -- there will be growing pains as he and the show adjust to each other. I'm looking forward to seeing him and wish him luck.

I think Larry Wilmore is starting to hit his stride, but he had huge shoes to fill. Colbert had been a regular contributor at the Daily Show for years before the "Colbert Report" with a set "here is my character" already in place. Wilmore is still finding that, and I think he'll get there sooner rather than later.
I remember when Stewart took over for blonde frat boy guy, and the first year or so wasn't that brilliant. Again, once the show found it's stride, and he began to give it his own voice, it became what it is now. But that took a year or so.

I don't watch the show anymore but I did watch it during the Kilborn era through 2008. I remember it took Jon a while to get settled and make it his own, that first year or so was a bit awkward. He kept doing Kilbornesque bits and it was painfully obvious that it just wasn't his style. I know nothing about Trevor but I'm willing to give him a shot. He just has not try to be like Jon at all. Larry Wilmore isn't doing anything like what Colbert did and I think it's going well so far.

This just crossed my Facebook: People Are Mad About Trevor Noah’s Old Tweets About Women And Jews. Some of them are kind of cringey and Lena Dunhamish (a bad joke, or a "joke"?") but some are worse. They're from 2009 or so, (relatively old, for twitter) but take some shine off. I know StewBert weren't perfect, but I'm not sure if this is a 2015 problem, or an actual problem, or something else.

And just when I was starting to warm up to him. I watched a few clips of his stand up on You Tube and he can be pretty funny...when he's not making lame jokes about women and Jews. Here's a few more of his tweets: LINK A lot of them are more recent from 2012 and one from 2014. Yuck. I think TDS is going to have to address this somehow. I'm really surprised checking someone's tweets isn't standard before hiring them for such a huge gig.

According to Wikipedia (...I know), his mother is half Jewish. I don't know if that's enough to deflect criticism.
