Wow. I totally have to disagree. Except about the set. It looks too sterile. The couch was much better. But, I do wonder if the shift from the couch to the chair for guests signals a shift away from doing ANY celebrity interviews at all.
I don't think he's kissing his guests' asses. He practically humiliated Bernard Goldberg.
My only complaint is that I wish they were pickier about their correspondent segments. The segments with Jon and their staples like "This Week in Religion" and the travel brochure thing are always good, but most of the correspondent segments just annoy me. They're funny, but they go on too long, and the writing isn't very good. They'd be much better if they were more polished.
But, I'm biased, because I hate Bush and will therefore laugh gleefully whenever Jon makes fun of him. It might get old if my feelings about Bush weren't so strong.

He definitely was not gushing about the greatness of Bernard Goldberg's book. Bernald Goldberg deserves a bitchslap, esp. around his piece of shit book which he'll probably trumpet as a fair and unbiased (and risky) indictment of people in America. Which is utter bullshit. And he will probably make the unchallenging rounds of Scarborough Country, et. al. He should be challenged once in a while.

The Steve Carrell interview was so, so funny and adorable. I miss him so much on the show. I was hoping for an even steph/ven, but oh well. I really hope they do release best of Stephen Colbert, Steve Carrell, and Rob Corddry dvds. I'm dying to see the Prince Charles bit, the town where they outlawed satan, the tada vote, and Rob's glee over the Red Sox's winning and mocking the middle east. Especially since they pulled so much good stuff off of the official site. At least Rob Corddry's Boston is on the election dvds. Anyone know why the Paul Rudd interview isn't up on the site?
Anyone pick up the indecision 2004 dvds? I was so pleased to see the Daily Show Rocks on the special stuff. Does anyone know when the correspondents sang the anthem? My first year of university I missed a good chunk of the year due to no cable. I assumed it aired then. Colbert's dum dum dum killed me! They were surprisingly skilled.

Jon did well on the Katrina coverage this past week, but his "team" of reporters are really starting to annoy me. They are less and less funny. Rob, Samantha and the guy that's trying to be Colbert need to stop trying so hard, plus some editing of their bits would help.
A few weeks ago there was a Brit shilling his book on. He was intelligent and articulate and made some good points about iraq/Bush. I meant to look for his book at the library but I can't remember his name or the book. Can anyone help me? I was cleaning th ekitchen while it was on and couldn't catch everything.

I think the Brit in question was Christopher Hitchens, but I can't remember the name of the book. Hope that helps!

I did not like the "Evolution Schmevolution" segments that I saw this past week. I felt it was lending credence to the idea that creationism vs. evolution is apples vs. apples. It's not. Science can be tested, proven or disproven and is based on evidence. Belief in creationism is just that--a belief that can't be tested or authenticated.
I was annoyed enough to not tune into the rest of the week--did they ever address this point?

Anyone catch Clooney on the show last night? Ricky Gervais was on the night before. Very funny.

Hm, is it just me or has the show been slightly off lately? The headlines aren't quite as funny and all the correspondent pieces seem to be trying too hard or the new correspondents haven't quite found their place yet. Maybe it's just a rough period right now.
