Eh, he would have been defensive anyway. Jon was bringing up awesome points to counter Bennett's rhetoric, and he was running out of ways to say "we need to protect the sanctity of marriage!" I agree they should tell the audience to be a little less, shall we say, boisterous, I didn't see them making Bennett as uncomfortable as Jon's questions were.

I enjoyed the interview, but I do wish that the staff at TDS would inform the audience that they need to pipe down during interviews. Jon was smacking Bennett down so beautifully, but it is hard to really enjoy it through all the "Woo!"-ing from the crowd.
They do it all the friggin' time when a conservative comes on, and while I understand that TDS (and their audience) leans to the left (as do I, at least socially), I do enjoy hearing these debates and trying to see if the other side can support their arguments in a reasonable manner, but the crowd kinda ruins it.

I missed it last night but am very much looking forward to the 8:00 PM rerun tonight.
I am dreading the audience reaction from what you've all said. That said, I can understand their glee to a point: It's so infrequent these days when these conservative pundits ever get called to task on their rhetoric sometimes you just can't help but cheer. But, ultimately, so much woo!'ing and cheering does detract from furthering the debate.

The interview is (of course) up on YouTube as well, if you want to watch it multiple times ( ). The audience gets pretty loud, but Jon makes some amazing comments that are quite worth watching. Bennett doesn't have much of a response for any of Jon's points, besides "marriage is between a man and a woman!!!!" and was clearly getting flustered.

Dangit! I totally forgot to check YouTube! I gotta get the hang of these internets one day. Wow. Bill Bennett got the "big" chair to sit in. Man's the size of a barn. And a douchebag.

There are different-sized chairs? I didn't notice that.
Yeah, Jon got some pretty good comments in.

Oh man, the use of "Bad Day" for the Al-Zarqawi montage made me laugh so hard. Sheer brilliance.

So am I the only one who nearly pissed herself laughing at the Republicans/baseball league bit last night? "I'll take a hang-up to mean yes." Bwah!

That was hilarious.
I also think it is pretty funny that Republicians are getting emails telling them not to talk to The Daily Show.
