I have never seen an episode of Dr Who before last night. But I saw Jodie on Graham Norton, explaining how she is a “Shat lass,” and I decided she was fabulous.
I really enjoyed last night’s episode. And I will continue to watch.

Welcome. You'll love it. There's a ton of history, but if you have questions don't be afraid to ask.

I'm another who's never seen an episode before -- I felt like there was too much to get caught up on, even though I have so many friends who watch. But since it's a female Doctor, I couldn't resist giving it a shot and I really enjoyed it. I'll definitely be sticking with it.

A new Doctor is always a good place to start, especially this Doctor since the companions are also new. Nine is a good starting place and Eleven is a good starting place for that very reason. Nine into Ten had carryover companions as did Eleven to Twelve.

That was a nice palate cleanser after Kavanaugh. I started crying when she appeared. It felt like relief. Also should say, I LOVED the "first year" with New Rose and 9. I still watch it now and then.

Well I declared earlier Nine is mine, I loved that one season so much maybe it was residule 9 love but I was never into 10 with Rose at all, prefered him with Martha and Donna. I've so many scenes from Nines time that I love, one of my favs ever ever was Have a fantastic life scene from Parting of the ways. Spoilers for new folk, sort of I guess if you diving in after the latest ep you know The Doctor changes.😁 I never really saw any of OG Dr Who as it wasn't really shown on Irish telly if you could connect to fuzzy BBC from mountain aeriels you had a chance but I knew of the folklore Daleks and Regeneration that was about it. Starting with Nine is no bad start. I might take my own advice and have a rewatch...pops off to check Irish Netflix(I do have the season with Nine on boxset somewhere)

It took me ages to get used to David Tennant, though I love some of his stories. I had seen old DW on (I think?) CBC, but I still have a soft spot for 9.

Oh my, I have dust in my eye, episode three goes back to 1955 Montgomery Alabama. And after it aired Rosa Parks is trending on twitter over here. #RosaParks

I had an awful feeling something like that would happen.

I thought it was a bit clunky at times. Mainly, I was put off by the premise. The truth was, Rosa Parks didn’t refuse to move because she was tired. She was part of an organized campaign. She was chosen by the NAACP to do exactly what she did so they could start a movement to boycott the buses. She was a secretary for the NAACP. So, if that particular bus hadn’t shown, had a different bus driver or had been empty enough that they wouldn’t have needed to move the sign, she would have just chosen another night. I also felt the villain was very one-dimensional and a bit too easy to dispatch.
But I did enjoy the stanning over meeting Rosa Parks and MLK, Jr. Personally, I don’t know if I would have been able to be that calm. I also felt they handled the final scene really well. The horror of the grandfather at having to be a part of such an outrageous act, the fact that they had the whole thing to play out without any help or assistance from the Doctor, showed the courage and the dignity of what Rosa Park actually did. This woman risked her life. It was not uncommon for African-Americans to go into southern jails healthy and come out dead. Such bravery.
