What in the ever loving fu*k? I’m done with this show. YUP. I get it. It's a noir mystery drama. But Rob Thomas really wanted the fans to lose their shit over this [those were his words this week] and to what? Not watch it if it gets picked up for another season? Dumb. Veronica has seriously had ENOUGH shit thrown at her since she was 15/16. STOP. IT. Rob.

I cheated and read a few entries from an ONTD post about the season and (Yay for me!) people are really questioning if something is wrong with Rob Thomas. He apparently has some wild hot takes about Veronica being a staunch Republican and some other random stuff. It didn't go over well with those folks over there.

Is he taking copious amounts of LSD before these interviews? That man really needs to learn to read the room. His audience is deluged on the daily by shit from the Orange Menace, and they need an escape. Ending this season the way he did takes all the fantasy out of it, and just gives us shitshow reality. Well, Rob, we already actually live in a shitshow. We don’t need to watch our favorite heroine live it too. People don’t watch TV in a vacuum. Their daily lives usually dictate emotionally what they’ll do for entertainment. I know that writing for TV is art, but it’s also a business, and the audience must be catered to somewhat or there will be no show for which to write. I mean really - who watches this show? Probably not the Boomer generation so why make her a smarter Tammy Loren (sp?). I’m considering watching another season even though I thought the ending of this season was soapy and cheap, not to mention cruel. But, if that political bent is included, I’m out.

Here's the bit about Veronica, the Republican:

That's how I feel about all this too. Seriously, WTF is wrong with Rob Thomas? AV Club did an interview with Jason Dohring and you could see him being even more than his normal solemn self. I don't think he has fully processed what has happened (they interview was posted today and at that time he STILL hadn't seen the episode!!) and doesn't want to. He wouldn't even answer the question when they asked are you okay with what the writers did? It's a lot of bullshit and they made it pretty clear early on in this season with Veronica saying that if anything happened to the two most important men in her life that she loved...she'd kill herself. So giving us anything more beyond that is fluff and lies. I think he did an HUGE disservice to the fans, to the characters, and to the show. It's a crock of shit.

And taking the season to get Veronica into that headspace where she realizes how much she needs BOTH men in her life. To take the next step with Logan and then for that to happen? Such bullshit. Cheap cheap cheap. I hated it. It made the whole season horrible for me.
I definitely liked the Logan/Veronica pairing but I was never an obsessed shipper or overly invested, so I’m quite surprised how pissed off I am at this. His death really sucks. Veronica needed a break from shitty thinks happening to her in her life, but so did Logan. His life was just as fucked up. I’m not always about things getting wrapped up in a bow, but they deserved some happiness.

I mean, even Celeste and Jake Kane were democrats ( there was a scene is season 2 I think- where Jake was telling Celeste to make sure not to sit entertainment people with the tech people and she says "Since when are we Republicans?" and Jake responds with " This governor is good for business")

Here's the bit about Veronica, the Republican: He’s clearly one of those idiots that thinks that Liberals don’t own guns. Thanks for the link to that ONTD post, Babycakes. Yikes! There is lots of gossip in those comments. Wonder how much of it is true. I really enjoyed this last season up until that hacky ending. RT clearly is a limited writer if the only way he sees writing for VM is if the heroine is alone and miserable. What made the show great is that it was the story of this prickly and plucky heroine and her friends/family all getting by in this corrupt town. By taking Veronica out of Neptune and away from her friends and family, they’ve literally taken away everything that makes Veronica herself tolerable. She’s always been kind of an asshole so the softening effect of Logan/Keith/Wallace/Mac/Weevil is much needed. While I’m here, I’ve always had one quibble with the show, and it really shone in this season: the lack of Asian or non-gang member Latino characters. It’s coastal California for Pete’s sake! Where the hell is everyone?!
