I'm not precious about ashes, but I did find it quite creepy when Carrie put Big in a Barney's shopping bag and then put him in her closet. I only found it creepy because it's Carrie and it's like she was elevating her dead husband to the status of her beloved shoes and clothes. That Barney's bag was no accident.

I almost wondered if having his ashes in her closet in that original apartment was revenge for how he treated her all those years, but I don't think it was supposed to be. A Barney's bag? Seriously? She's back in her Carrie necklace, so I guess she's back with her greatest love ever. Her damn self and her stupid shoes.
I do have some trouble reconciling the show's embrace of natural aging. I'm not sure how to explain it--I think people should do what makes them happy as they age--I appreciate the fact that SJP is old school and hasn't done anything drastic. But the show has always been about Carrie being adorable. It's hard to feel the show is being authentic about aging naturally when the women have always been tiny and gorgeous. It's kind of too little, too late, I guess.

In one of the subs, a fan mentioned that Barney's and Big were considered "Old New York" but neither exists anymore. I'm surprised I hadn't made the connection, but I'm not always watching shows to find metaphors. 😂

I missed the ending - was Carrie's final decision to move back to her OG apartment? A lot of those huge luxury apartments are very sterile, but it is possible to find something in between that and a bachelorette almost-studio which I'm sure had a lot of inconveniences that Carrie can now afford to improve. Like, what about just a place with a second bedroom and a washer/dryer, Carrie? Seriously. Your husband had a little money, you're not 40-something anymore, buy yourself a little ease.

I think I'm going to be permanently scarred by the image of Miranda continuing to loudly masturbate while talking to Brody who was just outside her bedroom door. Grim. Also, the flashbacks to her encounters with Che, which seemed to be filmed in a hospital clean room (or Carrie's new apartment instead of her old one) were so awkward. I never watched the original of this show mainly because it seemed shallow and not my speed. Saw the movies when they were chosen by others, no idea why I'm even watching the reboot, but it's quickly becoming a hate watch. I do love Cynthia Nixon's haircut though, it's incredibly flattering. I go back and forth on the color, it's one of those things where you think someone would look better with something different, like someone with glasses getting contacts, then they do it and you go "huh... guess that wasn't it." Carrie's face lift consult was interesting. That photo alteration looked great, but I've never seen someone come out looking that good after actual surgery, only after they've used every photo filter on earth on their pics online. IRL, after getting all that work done, most people seem to end up looking pinched or frozen. Carrie’s facelift consult looked great because it was a picture of young SJP, not a computer image of what plastic surgery would make her look like!

It's kind of too little, too late, I guess. I guess I feel the same... yet opposite ;p I feel like the show has gone TOO far (in every way). In terms of aging- they are 55, not 85, yet they all act as though they are two steps away from assisted living. Carrie has hip surgery, and wears grandma sun hats, and every 2nd sentence is about how they are aging. Oh and Steve is a deaf old fart. And Harry has to have a colonoscopy!! (I'm not sure if you all caught that- the writers of this show are super subtle and only mentioned it about 500 times- they were about as subtle with Miranda's drinking... seriously- they were two steps away from Saved by the Bell: "I'm so excited" levels of fuckery). They all act so out of touch- that they have to be taught the ways of the new world, like the interwebs, and non-binary and inter racial interactions. Yes Grandma Miranda, there are black people in the world who are professors too, and you can speak to them like normal people!! And... as I suspected, looks like Miranda's drinking problem was solved by her getting fingered by Che. Seriously- who likes this character. Che comes across as a narcissistic bully who looks to have addiction issues of their own... But- yeah... Honestly- there is not one character in this show I am rooting for. eta: Not true. I am rooting for Steve to get away from the horrible wife he has. Maybe him and Anthony can go meet Samantha and live happy lives away from all the rest of these horrible and not even kinda interesting or funny people.

The thing that's annoying me most about Miranda and Che is that the whole focus seems to be on Miranda having sex with a non-binary person, rather than Miranda cheating on her husband and seemingly not giving one shit about it. The characters are more interested in who she has cheated with, rather than the fact that she's cheated at all.
The aging stuff is beyond tedious. Why did Miranda need Carrie to literally lift her off the picnic bench?

The SatC movie made such a big deal about how Steve's confessed, repented, one-time infidelity was intolerable and grounds for immediate separation and divorce and Miranda screaming, "You broke us!!!!" at Carrie's wedding rehearsal.
So I just hope Steve gets his emotional moment too and gets to tell Miranda how much she hurt him. I hope the show does not merely continue to treat Miranda's affair as an act of empowerment and personal discovery. I have no doubt the show would never portray an affair with a male affair partner this way.

Yes Grandma Miranda, there are black people in the world who are professors too, and you can speak to them like normal people!! The show acts like they dropped the characters from the SATC TV show of the late 90's into 2021. In reality, these women would have eased into how things are today and not act so stunned as if they came from another planet. I don't get why Miranda is married at all, Steve was in one episode, I think. Why couldn't she have been divorced? Then her realtionship with Che wouldn't be cheating. But the problem with this show and most shows on TV is they glorify unhealthy relationships because writers feel they're more exciting than healthy ones. So I just hope Steve gets his emotional moment too and gets to tell Miranda how much she hurt him. I hope the show does not merely continue to treat Miranda's affair as an act of empowerment and personal discovery. I have no doubt the show would never portray an affair with a male affair partner this way. This is true logic wise and individual wise. I have found that a lot of folks don't feel that way because of real life power dynamics:Men still make more money than women; more Fortune 500 companies are run by men, men are trying to destroy women's reproductive rights and so on. If a White person said something like, "if a White person said or did such and such, people would be angry." And I'd be thinking, "power dynamics...not the same."
