I suspect they will have Miranda decide she is polyamorous and stay married to a bizarrely accepting Steve.
I liked their love story, and think it’s a shitty thing to do to the characters in the name of “updating” the show to have broader representation.

They all act so out of touch- that they have to be taught the ways of the new world, like the interwebs, and non-binary and inter racial interactions. Yes Grandma Miranda, there are black people in the world who are professors too, and you can speak to them like normal people!! The show acts like they dropped the characters from the SATC TV show of the late 90's into 2021. In reality, these women would have eased into how things are today and not act so stunned as if they came from another planet. I don't get why Miranda is married at all, Steve was in one episode, I think. Why couldn't she have been divorced? Then her realtionship with Che wouldn't be cheating. But the problem with this show and most shows on TV is they glorify unhealthy relationships because writers feel they're more exciting than healthy ones. Honestly I’m 43, so am younger than the AJLT characters, and STILL stunned at each new Woke thing. I can’t keep up with the (apparently 73 according to some study?) new genders or terminology and frankly don’t want to. If something grates then there is no easing into it, and while some of the terms or things aren’t new, they do still manage to stun me in a shocked but unfortunately not surprised type way. Fantastic comment about how most shows on tv glorify unhealthy relationships and why. Edit: my comment is coming up as part of the comment I’m quoting and despite editing attempts I’m not able to fix it. My own comment starts at “I’m 43”.

While I agree that the idea of healthy relationships/power dynamics and their portrayal in most shows is skewed- I can't say the writers of THIS show are any better- in fact I'd argue they are significantly worse.
Carries consistently lives off the backs of her men. Her financial life depends on men supporting her. Aidan bought and repaired her apartment , then he had the gall to ask for $$ when she cheated on him/dumped him (and he asked for a fair price- according to Miranda). This caused Carrie to have a meltdown and demand Charlotte pay for her place. Then she leaves to Paris and has Petrofsky pay for everything. Then she leaves that and has Big pay for everything.
The Carrie and Big dynamic has always been deeply flawed. Big treats her like crap, pulls away, then returns... 500 times. Is manipulative and aloof. The shows main "love" story is about how - if you just wait long enough- the rich and gaslighting man will change his ways and eventually come to you. (eta: then- if you wait just a few more years he'll have a heart attack and if you don't call 911 you are RICH!! Yay for strong female empowerment)
Charlotte gave up her entire career once she married Trey. So once again the woman is left financially dependent on her man. These are modern times?? Once she married Harry I don't recall her ever going back to work.
Miranda ALSO gave up her job in the end. It's funny- as I think on this all of the woman except Samantha ended up dependent on their male partner.
This new iteration is no better. Carrie is still living off of Big's $$. Miranda is now a bully and an idiot and they are trying to convince us cheating on your partner is ok. They are also trying to convince us Miranda and Steve have always been sh%t. That is rewriting the show. I seem to recall Miranda going on several times about how great their (Steve & Miranda) sexual chemistry was. Now- things change- and of course people make new discoveries about themselves. They don't have to be selfish assholes about it though. Except on this show they do.
In terms of the ever changing dynamics in the real world related to gender et al. I definitely will grant that it's a constantly changing place- and it can be hard to keep up. But this show seems to have lumped that in with so many things that while kinda new and changing- people of all ages in the real world have little issue with- except these girls: internet (what is this Instagram thing?, I have to pay online- I can't use cheques and rolled coins?), racial diversity (how do I talk to a Black/Asian/Latino person?? if I invite them to dinner it has to be full of shenanigans because this is such a new concept).

When Carrie and her date both barfed, I thought it was food poisoning.
What kind of sex columnist would be so shamed at people thinking she "writes porn?" That's a totally valid (often lucrative) occupation these days. SJP sure is a fragile flower.
Miranda, you're killing me. Your hair: so good. Your chill: so bad.

Carrie always was a prude, so actually being embarrassed about the 'porn' comment tracks for the character.
I have to say, this episode was probably my favorite so far. I grant you, that's not saying much, but yeah.
Miranda is still acting like an idiot. An idiot with great hair, but an idiot, nonetheless.

This thread reminded me that I had to complete my weekly chore and watch this show. I'm starting to resent it. They are also trying to convince us Miranda and Steve have always been sh%t. That is rewriting the show. I seem to recall Miranda going on several times about how great their (Steve & Miranda) sexual chemistry was. I think even on the original show, Miranda and Steve's sex life very quickly settled into what was described as 11 minutes of no-frills sex during Nightline. And then in the movie, they hadn't had sex in 6 months and it was chalked up to Miranda being busy and uninterested. There is some continuity there.

Except in the movie Miranda was DEVASTATED when Steve cheated on her - once- because they weren't having sex because she was checked out of their marriage. Then she spent time thinking on it and realized Steve could very well be the one in their partnership who was the "catch" and she ran towards him on the bridge like he was her true and forever love.
But, I mean, he's an old fart now who can't hear and bumbles around like he's 85- so why should she stick around for that?
I will admit I have stopped watching. It was annoying and I did not: laugh once, feel happy or joyful watching it once- and it was making me truly not like the original. So I am totally out- in terms of watching. Reading the comments and hating on the stupidness of this remake is still ok with me though ;p

This episode actually felt the most like old SaTC. I wouldn't call it good, but better.
Miranda was devastated and went ice queen in the movie - consistent with her character. Not this messy, sloppy, cheater.

The high point of the show was the blue dress Carrie wore (under a white blazer) to her date. That was a great dress. Too bad she barfed in it.
New Ep: Miranda's still an a-hole. If there was ever a character who needed to have her heart splattered, it's her. But I do feel a little like the episode almost felt like a (not-great) ep of SATC, so in that way, I guess it's a upgrade? Why is Carrie still living there? No update on either of the other two women (Nya and Charlotte's Mom friend, Lisa?).

I’m watching the first episode and I’m so distracted by Charlotte’s lips, especially with all the crying she’s doing. Yikes.
