Law & Order SVU has its moments. One that sticks in my mind was the ep where this wealthy Manhattanite “adopts” an adolescent Ukrainian girl. Olivia and Elliot find the guy's whips and chains, arrest him, but can’t find the girl. The guy knows they can’t find her and brags, while in custody, “She doesn’t urinate without my permission!” Liv and Elliot finally find this weeping, skinny little waif the guy has kept hidden in a small box under his bed.

I just remember someone getting killed in a silo.

That series, one I truly loathe for its offensive nature, could be submitted here as one gigantic, continuous Disturbing TV Moment.

Last night's Alias had some disturbing moments that I won't forget for a while. Sydney gets buried alive in a coffin with a dead informant.
Then Marshall, a technology genius not a trained spy, has to cut out the eyeballs (for a retina scan) of a baddie that he'd accidentally shot. Ewwww! I can handle a lot of gore, but stuff with the eyes just gets to me. Ugh!

Smilla, why do you find Law and Order SVU offensive? Okay, the most disturbing moment from that show has to be when the girl who plays Shane on the "L Word" pops up as a transexual. At the end of the ep, she gets sent to prison-a male one, even though she looks like a woman.
To make a long story short, Benson and Olivia are called to Bellevue. Shane's Law and Order character is on a stretcher. She has been repeatedly gang raped. That whole ep was horrifying.

I think your post may have answered your own question in a way veronicamars. Each episode seems to be crafted to contain at least one disturbing moment--some are jam-packed with them. I watch it anyway (for the Meloni), but it can be incredibly unsettling.
Since the whole premise of the show is focused on sex-related crimes, often involving children, it's easy to see why some people would be offended (whether they've been sexually abused themselves or not). Most people I know find sex crimes to be the most repulsive and unconscionable exhibition of human depravity this side of mass genocide. Such unwavering focus on the subject seems exploitative and prurient at times. While I don't find L&O:SVU offensive per se, I can certainly see why some people might.

I think there needs to be a show like SVU. I think people need to know about things like that, if only to protect themselves. And a lot of the show's cases are based on real life events.
In the same vein, does anyone remember "Something About Amelia" where Ted Danson played a child molester. He looked so creepy with the gray hair.

Any random clip from Oz. The first that got me was Adibesi raping Schibeta. You expect a cut once they established what was going to happen, but it just kept going.
Another was the Aryans dragging the frat boy rapist into the supply closet and ganging him, while his friend asks if he can watch. Part of what was disturbing is the guy was a rapist, was such a dumbass to Beecher that I was going of rooting for him to get his comuppance. Still couldn't stop watching.

Forever, it's the scene in Twin Peaks where Leland-as-BOB kills Maddie. He keeps smashing her face into the mirror and it won't. stop. In fact, a lot of Twin Peaks was really disturbing. Seeing BOB for the first time really messed me up. It was a picture frame. I was 12, in a house in the woods when I watched this, and I was positive that when the lights went out Bob would be coming. 15 years later, I still get the shivers thinking about it.

My Oz clip that never fails to freak me out involves the spoon. Freaked me out just typing spoon just now. Thank God it wasn't a spork.
