Two reasons I kept watching this show after season two were Jack and Irena. Great actors making great characters. The writing was crap after season two.

Good lord the show was perfect tonight. As if we didn't already know it, as whitefalcon is hinting at, writing does make a huge difference. First thing I noticed was how outstanding Sydney was tonight...like the Syd of old, the one you can root for. And then it dawned on me...damn they actually gave her something to do. She was not sitting around a briefing table, or pining after her boyfriend, or being played by a bad guy. She was fighting off people, despite the fact that she was going into labor. She was the one not trusting her mother, even when Irina was pretending to help.
If they continue to write like this for the rest of the season, we will get a proper ending to this wonderful show.

I thought this episode rocked. Jack was awesome throughout, of course, and I'm not ashamed to admit I shed a few tears during the delivery scene. I love that we got to see the whole Spy Family together again!
And then the end -- WTF? Bhutan? Interesting. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Yeah, too bad they spoiled that Bhutan ending with the ads, as I alluded to earlier. I also shed a few (okay, a LOT) of tears as well.
ACTION JACK! is the best. Closely followed by Action Syd, which is gonna be ramped up a notch next week.
I love Irina so, so, so very much because I can never figure out where her allegiances are but I always believe that she has Syd's best interests at heart because I think she rules. Though i have to say, the "I never wanted you, you will suck as a spy or a mom" speech was awesome, cruel and effective all at once.
The acting by Lena, Victor, Jen and Ron is so top-notch, even when the writing's bad. And when the writing's good? Oh man. But as has been alluded to many a time, the fact that they can sell the hell out the most ridiculous jargon then turn on a dime and do a tender scene makes them solid gold. Give Lena her Emmy NOW.
And Amy Acker is in the credits now? Fine by me! I'm not ashamed to admit that I actually dig all of this season's additions. Nice mysterious subplot for Tom/Balthazar with his dead wife and "The Cardinal" going on....
Which leads me to -- no fracking way this will be resolved properly in *5* episodes! Even if the finale is two-hours, which it will be. Seriously, 8 hours to wrap up the most byzantine plots since before Lost even existed? Screw you, ABC.

Oooooh, how I will miss this show! I was seriously, insanely addicted the first two seasons, tried my heart out to like it in the third, and gave up midway into the fourth. I did watch the season opener this year but that was about it...I read the recaps at ABC in order to have last night's episode make sense and boy was I glad! Great episode except now I'm so sad it is leaving (no more Marshall, ever again? sniffle, sniffle) and so mad that it was crap for so long. After her friends were killed off/left town it just didn't have the same tension.
Best line last night was from the long haired bad girl (sorry, don't know her name) who said to Jack something along the lines of "Give it up, Grandpa!" Hahahahahaha.
I was also wondering if Irena was a little jealous of the connection Syd had with her Dad during her (fastest ever for a first child) delivery. That could make for some good repartee between SpyMommy and SpyDaddy at some point.

It took me awhile to digest last night's ep, especially since I got the time wrong and missed the first half! It was 8pm Eastern- not Central like I posted, why didn't one of you guys correct me? Oh well, I will just downlo, I mean, find a TAPE of the 1st half. Amy Acker really pulled it off, and she is pregnant in real life too. Jack and Irena brought their A game as usual, but I was put off by Irena being so cold to Sydney and Jack. I am one of the few who likes her being badass to everyone except the Spyfamily. She is supposed to love and long to be with them in Borokat's Shiny Happy Land. And the birth? Please. Even Jennifer Garner must be snickering over how unbelievable that was. I fanwanked it by deciding that since Sydney is impervious to torture, a little delivery pain was not going to faze her. But where was the mess? Birthing a baby is nasty and MESSY. And speaking of Jennifer Garner. LOVE HER. She did such a great job and I am looking forward to the rest of the season. But I thought there was going to be more Vaughan last night. I think everyone has really stepped up to end it in style and I thank them for that.

God help me but seeing Victor Garber all Action Jack just turns me to goo. Why do I find a 50 something year old gay man the sexiest guy on the planet? Great episode. Lena Olin sure earns the nickname Lena Fucking Olin and Jen was at the top of her game last night. Just seeing such a terrific episode depresses me that it is all coming to an end.

I know Victor Garber is so sexy even with his belly hanging over his pants a bit in the bank scene (part of the disguise or Jack been hitting In and Out too much?).

Oh, you aren't the only one. Victor Garber is 20 kinds of awesome.
These episodes were enjoyable - and I agree that Garber, Garner and Olin were at the top of their game. It was so nice to have kick-ass Syd back. The birth scene was completely unrealistic, but I got all misty-eyed with all the daddy/daughter stuff between Syd and Jack

Well, congrats to her! At least she'll be doing the last eps of Alias before she starts to show. And I agree with you about not wanting Irina to be evil to SpyDaddy and Daughter and Granddaughter. Be evil to the rest of the world if you want, but be nice to your kid! Or kids...has Nadia come out of her coma yet? Victor Garber and Lena Olin RULE. I'd love to see them do another project together after Alias is done.
