I haven't watched this season at all because of the Huddy crap, and it looks like I haven't missed much. I have the latest on my DVR, so I might watch that and the season finale.

I stopped watching after the pointless (IMO) cast changes but if it is the last season, I hope they bring Jennifer Morrison and Lisa Edelstein back for the final episode and give the show a proper send-off.

I was wondering about comparisons to 127 Hours, never having seen the movie myself. Hugh is an excellent actor, but those scenes crystallize why this show has become stale for me. It's an endless spiral of self-loathing and suffering. No fun, anticipation or suspense involved. I'm not invested in his outcome at all anymore. It's become one of my 'buffer' shows that I can passively watch because the acting is interesting, but I don't necessarily look forward to it. I have to say that this is why I didn't totally mind the Huddy storyline this season. Were there a lot of missteps and really stupid moments? Yes. But it was still kind of refreshing that House seemed to be moving in a relatively positive direction, because like you, I am so totally over the "House tortures himself" storyline. It's not just that it's hard to watch, it's almost... boring at this point.

Wow...just, wow. No idea what that all means. Also no idea how they could plausibly get House back to the hospital.

I think it all means the writers are out of ideas and domestic violence was the best they could come up with. I'm done with this show.

Resurrecting a dead thread, but man, the Hmong episode chaffed my hide. Not because of the wackadoodle premise, but because why the heck don't they hire Hmong actors! I know they are out there. A Chinese grandfather, a Filipino daughter-in-law and an nondescript Asian/euro mix girl playing a Hmong boy! It's like, "slanty eyed, we done our casting."
I mean, I have been able to overlook the "sarcoidoses every week" diagnoses, but it just seems such a small thing to hire appropriate ethnic actors for such ethnic based episodes. I had the same beef when they hired non Cubans for a uniquely Cuban episode (Cuban refugees). The actor couldn't even say "Cuba" correctly.
Okay okay, the show is off the air, but this is the only show that I've watched in decades that has been so off in their casting.

Okay, the whole ending was preposterous.
1. The whole "charged with felony vandalism" thing. Give me a break, there is no way anyone could get fingerprints from waterlogged cardboard. I know House is a genius, but there's no way anyone could precision flush a wad of cardboard to specifically clog the plumbing in a specific spot, and all House needs to do is hire a lawyer who will point out that the tickets were worth a fortune, and that it wasn't likely House was the one to destroy them. Surely House has enough enemies that reasonable doubt could be created.
2. Faking his own death. What happens after Dominica inherits all his money, Wilson dies and House is left alone, penniless and unable to get a decent job because he has no ID, work history, disabilities and he's over 50? Is the prospect of House on skid row supposed to be the happy ending?
3. If House does come back and announce he's still alive, he's facing a lot more than 6 months for violating parole.
4. How the hell did a disabled middle-aged man who's suffering from smoke inhalation and who just fell 20 feet, get out of the burning building.
If they were going to have House fake his death, he should have been looking at substantial criminal charges, say for trying to strangle a patient, drugs, breaking into patient's homes, etc.

I gave up on logic with this show a long time ago, it makes it a much more enjoyable experience for me. Given that outlook I thoroughly enjoyed the finale.

I hadn't realized that Jennifer Morrison was going to be part of the finale so I didn't watch it live but I just watched and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. Maybe it's because I haven't watched regularly in years and have therefore managed to avoid being annoyed by the show on a weekly basis, but it was pretty good all things considered. I was pleasantly surprised by how little Olivia Wilde/Thirteen was in the episode and how much Jennifer Morrison and Anne Dudek were. It was like a gift to all the fans who preferred both of those characters to the one who replaced them. I teared up when Cameron opened her laptop to picture of the original ducklings with House. Those early years were awesome.
I recently rewatched Dead Poets Society and I like that they were able to parallel House and Wilson's experiences with those of Robert Sean Leonard's character from the film.
