Denny Crane. I need Denny Crane back. I got tired of the same look on Sandra Oh's face, scene after scene, after scene. Denny Crane. right at the end of the season premiere, there was this look on her face. Her eyes were totally wonky. I couldn't stop laughing.

Did they change actresses who played Mrs Shepard? I thought it was funny that they did almost the same surgery that House did earlier this week. I was just about to blog about that very thing. Get this, 3 SHOWS did that same surgery. House did it first, then Grey's then Without a Trace. Are there spies on the hit shows? Was this a new surgery written up in med journals over the summer??? It's bizarre that all 3 shows featured it but not one of them named it. And on House, they said the patient could only be down 1.5 minutes (or something like that) but on Grey's we're told the patient is kept dead for 45 minutes! How can someone be dead that long and then brought back to life??!! That makes no sense and has to be impossible! They used the same time frame (45 mins or so) on Without a Trace. Weird.

It was a good one, but not as good as last week.
Christina's mother came to take care of her, and she is the exact opposite of Christina, to say the least. So between that and a desire to get back to work, she kept on sneaking out of her bed and trying to particiapte in rounds, check on patients, etc. She had a hunch that one patient she snuck in on was suffering from Munchausens (sp) and it turned out she was. They told her so, and she fell into an emotional breakdown (caused more by the break up and her mom then the diagnosis) and wanted to be sedated. Then Dr Whats-his-name, the father of her baby, came to her room in this god-awful outfit, and laid on her bed to hold and comfort her.
Meredith's mom continued in her alzheimer's ways, with George having to watch over her and indulge all the people she thought he was. She also ended up escaping her room, and started prepping for surgery. Dr Chief-of-staff-who-had-the-brain-tumor came into find her, and she told him the OR was empty and she had a few free minutes if he wanted to get in a quicky. So now we know that the two of them had an affair at some point.
Dr Sheppard's wife gave him divorce papers, and told him if he really was over her to sign them and she would to, but if there was any possible chance that he still loved her, he shouldn't sign them. Meredith spied on all that transpiring, and kept waiting to find out if he signed them. At the end of the show, the two of the met for a drink, he dropped his bag, she went to pick it up the papers fell out,and she saw that he had not signed the papers. The triangle continues.
Izzie and Dr I'm-a-jerk-but-a-good-guy went out on a real date. But it was right after he was told that he'd failed one section of his boards, and would have one final try to pass it or else he'd no longer be a doctor. Oh, and he and Sheppard were treating a guy whose wife had shot him in the head when she found out he was cheating. He was fine, but had a bullet in his head. This brought about all sorts of discussion about infidelity, Sheppard saying it wasn't okay under and circumstances, and whats-his-name saying it was just something that happened and was to be expected.
And a patient came in who was an old and sentimental favorite of Dr They-say-I'm-the-nazi-chief-resident. He was a CF patient who competed in triathalons to demonstrate the CF couldn't keep him down. Sheppard's not-yet-ex-wife agreed to operate on him, and he died on the table. We saw that Dr the-say-I'm=the-nazi-chief-resident has a heart and she can cry when she's upset.
I think that was it.

Thanks for the write up!
I really like the idea of Meredith and Dr. Heartthrob together. He's a decent guy, but the draw back is that he's got a lot of baggage.
So, Christine lost her baby? I guess it had to be that way or else she can't really be on the show.

I'm kind of sorry that they had her lose it so quickly. I guess that this early into a show about doctors who sleep with each other, they had no choice. But I have a doctor who is not much older than me, who has three children. She was pregnant with her oldest in the last year of her residency. She was telling me the stories of doing her surgical residency, under a gynecological surgeon who deal with pregnant women all day, while pregnant. She went through some damn funny challenges, such as her belly being so much in the way that she could not get up to the operating table very late in her pregnancy. And she had the added challenge of explaining all this to her boss, a man who in theory understood pregnant women as much as anyone.
They could have done some really funny stories with Christina the pregnant surgeon!

Loved tonight's episode! George doing emergency surgery on the guy in the elevator...getting the shaman for the spinal cord patient...and Cristina talking about porn. "I got porn guy!"

I loved that Dr. Shephard chose his wife over Meredith (who I can't stand). I also thought it was interesting the way history was repeating itself with Meredith and her mother both wanted a man to leave his wife for them.
Can anyone tell me what the deal was with the woman who had a heart attack on the same day for several years?

She was having an affair with the next door neighbor, and thought he was her true love rather than her husband. On the day he died, her grief caused her to have such an adrenaline rush it stopped her heart, and the same thing happened to her on the anniversary of his death each year. A broken heart I guess?
I think they need to lay off the "Odd medical problems overlooked by the attendings and caught by the residents" thing. It's getting old to have one of those each week.

Yeah! I missed it last night because I was out in 40 degree temps with rain trying to buy a White Sox ticket.
