I loved the interaction between "TimRiggins" and the little kid. When the kid gave Tim his school picture, and Tim was all, "this is goin' on the fridge!"? Aww. And the scenes with Tammi and Tyra were excellent as well. I really liked how Tammi admitted that she'd been unfair in projecting a lot onto Tyra simply because she was worried about Julie.

What I don't understand about this show is why more people are not watching it! Is it the camera work? The storylines are too real? I mean, what is it? To me, this show is just all kinds of awesome, even the deleted scenes rock! For example, one of the deleted scenes during the racism storyline was of Jason and Lyla going to a party with the other football players. Jason's explaining to them what Quad Rugby is and how to play, one of them says, "Why don't you guys just kick the ball to score?" Honestly, how many times in high school have we all said something, not meaning any harm when we said it, but quickly realizing once the words were out of your mouth that it was wrong? I think the writers have made these kids high school life very believable and I'm glad it hasn't gone all 90210 on the viewers yet.
Seriously, the writers? I love them! I loved the way they played out the racism storyline. They didn't make the viewers dumb and use the the typical type of "I hate blacks" racism that we normally see on TV, they demonstrated the racism through the coach's (is it McGee?) judgement, expectations, and the standards he held the players to were dependent on their race. My friends and I argued until we were blue in the face if the assistant coach's comments were really racist or not (and we still argue about it). I think this type of racism that they showed is what happens more often now compared to the racism of the past. And the end of that storyline where the cops pull the bus over, I was scared and appalled that I could still see that type of thing happening today.
It definitely doesn't hurt that this show has all types of eye candy. I think I change TV boyfriends weekly every time I watch this show. In case you're wondering, right now Matt Saracen is my TV boyfriend because he just stands in the back and yells stuff during a fight. Hee!

I don't want to be one of those tireless, tiresome fans who hire planes to fly banners and whatnot, but I did want to let people know that Bravo is running episodes at 7 pm on Friday nights (!) and I think, three hour marathons on Saturdays in an effort to get more viewers. I also found it interesting that Salon's TV critic wrote an article last week on how good the show is, and a lot of the letters were like, "It's set in Texas? Fuck that, and fuck Texas!" or "I was bullied by football players in high school, so I won't watch it". IMO, it's one of the most liberal, giant-hearted shows on TV, even if it is set in Texas and has a high school football team as part of the dramatic mix.

I still watch most weeks, but adding TimRiggins' obnoxious brat of a neighbor might just be the last straw for me. He's already running a verrry close second to Lyla Garrity in my "Please, just let a massive feral dog grasp this character by the throat and put me out of my misery" rankings. Maybe I'm a bad person, but I haven't wanted to microwave a tot this badly since Raven Bat Face showed up on Cosby.

I adore this show, but I really agree -- that kid needs to GO. Everything else on this show is so realistic -- the relationships, the interactions, the teenager-y goodness, and adding the smart-ass kid just seems so forced and lame. I hope he and his Mom move again real quick.

I love Jason Street! That scene on the football field was beyond awesome. I've had many favorite scenes on this show, but I think that particular scene takes the cake. From the comparing of woman issues to Jason helping Matt, it was great. It's about time Jason and Matt finally shared some scenes together. Here's to hoping that coaching is in Jason's future. It was silly of me to think I was going to make it through an entire episode without crying... until the football field scene. Damn Jason Street for tugging on my heart strings, I've noticed it's always him that makes me cry.
This show is so realistic, it's refreshing. The chili scene with Tyra and the Taylors actually made me feel sorry for Tyra, you could see the look on her face like "Wow, so this is what it's like to have a normal family?"
I wonder how many Father/Daughter dances Lyla and her dad went to before this one? I bet they were at all the dances, nice to see her ruining her dads car lot juxtaposed to the father/daughter dance.
I can't wait for next weeks episode.

They're making me like Tyra. Wouldn't have thought that possible in the beginning. It's so nice that Jason's got his friends to hang out with again. He was so isolated before. Here's hoping he'll no longer need Lyla's whining company (sooooo, you just had your heart broken by being told you didn't make the team? what's that got to do with my feeeeeeeeelings, Jason?-----haaaaaaate!) and she'll finally meet a grisly end.
One major problem for me is TimRiggins and the cradle-robbing neighbor being played like some romantic coupling. Sorry. Grown ass women molesting teenage boys is NOT something I like seeing glorified on tv. The boy's what, seventeen? It may be just this side of illegal, but it ain't cool. I know it's a double standard that's not going away any time soon, but still it's disappointing to see. Wonder how romantic/sexy the writers could make a coupling between, say, Buddy G. and little Julie Taylor. Yuck.

That football field scene was so great. It was hilarious and touching at the same time, which is so rare for a TV show. Matt whining about getting in trouble made it that much more awesome.
Coach Taylor and Tami are such great characters. All their scenes are so natural. And I feel like a weirdo for it, but I actually like Lyla, even though she can be kind of annoying. The actress has improved a lot since the beginning, too, IMO. As for the cradle-robbery stuff, I was so happy when she told Tim to leave and called him a kid, and I hoped that would be the end of it. That would've been the non-TV-cliche way for the show to go, so it was really disappointing that they went back and did it the other way.
Also, the Buddy Garrity car dealership commercial was priceless.

I love this show more with every episode. I'm in the minority, I like the little kid and Tim Riggins....I think it shows a different side to Tim that we might not see otherwise.
I also love every Taylor family scene. The interactions are just priceless. The teasing and laughter in that household are so touching and true.
I wish more people would watch. INMHO this is the best show on tv right now.

The writing just rang a little false last night...I thought it was weird that Lyla called her hooking up with Tim "having an affair." It sounded so out of place. Do teenagers talk like that?
Another instance was when Julie said "I have dreams, too." Cheesy.
Hate the precocious kid and Mrs. Robinson storyline. Blech. Otherwise I love this show. I hope it has another season.
