What are some of your favorite music-related TV moments? A real classic was The Beatles first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. Another is the use of Sia's "Brathe Me" in the final episode of Six Feet Under.

I've always thought the best use of music on a TV show was the opening credits for NYPD Blue. The part where the musicians just start pounding on the drums while they show the fireworks and dragons at the festival in Chinatown, and then the camera's vantage point of the subway train moving forward through the tunnel never failed to amaze me - it was so incredibly cool!

The Season 3 finale of The West Wing, Posse Comitatus, has a beautiful song called Hallelujah sung by Jeff Buckley that is played over Simon, CJ's Secret Service agent/soon-to-be lover being killed and I cry Every. Single. Time. It is so beautiful and haunting. Of course there are other musical moments in the show that I love (i.e. Holy Night), but that has to be the best.

Didn't know whether to spoiler that or not, but I don't want to ruin it for those who may not have seen it!

About ten years ago, Pavarotti did a last-minute bow out (sore throat) at the Grammys, and with 20 minutes notice, Aretha Franklin stepped in and sang "Nessun Dorma" from Turandot and blew the frickin' house away. The classical purists were like "meh" afterwards, but damn I thought she was great.

I second Sia's "Breathe Me" over the end of Six Feet Under. If I tried to explain to you just how hard I cried at that finale, you would have me declared certifiable.

And there are many, many equally amazing covers of that song, as well as Leonard Cohen's original. Why Buckley is the default version is beyond me.

The "King of Queens" used PE's 'Fight the Power' in a montage of Doug, Arthur, Deacon, and Deacon's baby (in Baby Bjorn) acting all tough in the 'hood. It may be the only network use of that song ever.
