Other than How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (which I thought was dumb) her movies have done poorly. So I'm not sure why articles/pictures of her are constantly being plastered in magazines. Unless it's a case of the media deciding to forcefeed her to the public as a big star (much like they did with Ben & Jen, and you know how well that played out). the media probably kisses her ass because of her mom. She reminds me of Kate Bosworth, fame-wise. Really doing nothing that is successful, but for some reason, she's famous for something.

I was reading Star magazine at the store and it said she wants another baby, but her husband doesn't because he didn't like that she gained weight with her first pregnancy, she had mood swings, and he likes her to party with him, which she can't do if she's pregnant. Now, this is Star so I'd take it with a grain of salt the size of a beach ball, but the rumors that he was upset with her weight gain have been around for a long time.
He sounds like a jerk, but I don't think she will ever leave him. She seems to totally adore him and willing to do anything for him. I kind of get the impression she's way more into him then he is into her. Of course I've never met either one of them and he could be a nice guy an it could be true love, but that's not as interesting.

I think it's a badly thought-out ploy to both endear her to an older audience that might think in such terms and to justify her lack of a career at present. You know, since daughters of famous people don't outright fail and all fame is passed down like money and is 'earned' through birth. Yeah, and that bullshit.
Oh yeah, it's more entitlement bullshit which is sad because out of all the movie stars I could name, Goldie Hawn's doesn't really do anything these days. Seriously, the woman is famous because 1) she's a sixty year old woman acting a third of that and 2) because she was on Laugh-in and some other movies. That seems to be all she has to offer. Kate seems to be wanting to have some of that rub off on her and it just won't work: Goldie isn't really a draw anymore.
I think she needs to have her fame examined. There's no real reason to care about her anymore.

The way people are talking about her in the Britney thread I'm getting the impression that she gained a lot of weight when she was pregnant. However, I remember seeing pictures of her with her belly out and I don't think she was too big. Does anyone have photographic evidence of the contrary? Are the people in the other thread alluding to something else? Please help me understand the snark!

MaryWG, there was a photo of Kate in the mags shortly after she gave birth, and she was definitely large. She looked like the Albino in The Princess Bride.

She gained a total of 60 lbs. with her son. Personally, I don't think it's that big of a deal. She was pregnant and had a healthy baby. I've never had kids so I don't know how much weight gain is normal, I've heard that 60 is a little excessive though. Anyway, yeah, she got pretty big. I also think she looks different now. I think it was the sizeable weight gain plus the sizeable weight loss all within a year. She looks older or something.

What matters is that the baby is healthy, but I'm not surprised to hear about the weight gain. 25-30 lbs. is considered normal these days (at least where I live in the US). She could probably get away with more since she was very thin to start, but 60 lbs. is a lot.

Thanks everyone! She did get pretty big, but I really can't fault a new mom for taking longer than *gasp* two months to lose her baby weight.

Still completely untalented and owing her entire career to her famous mother? OK, then.

I like Kate Hudson and she comes across as having a friendly personality just like her mom. I always thought that she could do much better in a husband than Chris though. He always looks as if he is in a bad mood.
I have read alot of tabloids too saying that her husband made mean comments about her weight gain whilst pregnant and that if they were to have another baby that no way does he want her getting that big again. I am sure Kate herself did not want to gain all that extra weight... but when you fall pregnant you really don't have too much a choice what happens to your body.
