I can't believe it's been 20 years!
Thank you so much! I never heard of Psych, but I put a reminder in my phone to DVR this! And 20 years? God, I'm so old. I had friends over the night the finale aired and we ate cherry pie (and it was damn good) and drank a ton of coffee (back in the days when I drank caffeine) and then stared at each other when it ended with a "WTF was that?" look on our faces. This show and Freaks and Geeks will always be the greatest things I've ever seen on television.

A major, major thank you to proper stranger for posting that link about the Psych episode. I just watched it and WOW! It was like a reunion with old friends. Dana Ashbrook looked awesome as did Sherilyn and and Sheryl and the actor who played Harold Smith on TP was adorable. And the show did not disappoint either - so many awesome TP references. Loved the ending in the diner with the homage to the inhabitants of TP, too.
It brought back soooooo many good memories I'm gonna bring out the box set and spend Sunday watching the series again. Sigh.
(I enjoyed the Psych characters, too -- will definitely watch the show again.)

The Psych ep was great. I loved it. It was definitely weird seeing the gang 20 years later, but they looked good. The final scene was excellent. I was grinning the entire time.

This is driving me nuts - was the sheriff played by a TP actor? It felt like I should recognize him, but I couldn't place him. It was easy picking out Dana Ashbrook - he looks exactly the same except for the gray hair. Sherilyn Fenn did look great. She was on In Plain Sight a few years ago and she looked like crap. But it looks like she's lost weight since then and she looks better with her Audrey hair than she did with the red hair she had on IPS. I liked all the TP references, but I am really disappointed that they couldn't work in a "there's a fish in the percolator" reference. That's one of the best lines ever.

A major, major thank you to proper stranger for posting that link about the Psych episode. Awww, you're welcome! Always happy to share the Twin Peaks love! I knew the episode was going to be great when I saw the chocolate bunny on the desk right off the bat...then Shawn and Gus started talking about silent drape runners. It was so cool seeing the actors 20 years later. Dana Ashbrook looks good with grey hair, Sherilyn Fenn was too cute as the Cherry (of course) Coke-drinking librarian, and Ray Wise was perfect as the priest. And the bit with the Log Lady was awesome. I loved the faux-Angelo Badalamenti score, too. They even got Julee Cruise to sing a TP-ified version of the theme song! I'm feeling a DVD marathon coming on, too. Yep, he played Harold Smith, the shut-in that Donna cozied up to because he had a missing page of Laura's secret diary.

Psych really pulled out all of the stops in their homage to Twin Peaks. What I loved best is that they really had the tone of Twin Peaks down perfectly. The weird music, the unusual close-ups, the odd characters. And then the final scene with the Bob dance at the diner.
LittleEdieBeale - Netflix is streaming Psych's first 4 seasons. I think the first season is pretty uneven. But, the next three seasons are excellent. A couple of episode suggestions: American Duos, which mocks American Idol with Gina Gershon = Paula and Tim Curry = Simon. Tuesday the 17th which mocks Friday the 13th movies. And Lights, Camera...Homicidio which mocks Telenovas. The best part about that episode is that the theme song is in Spanish.

Thanks, twodollars! I will definitely Netflix those episodes! (I guess I do live under a rock - I thought Psych was a new show. Soooo embarrassed.)

So, there was a 20th Aniversary Art Show here in LA over the weekend and I totally went! My friends and I had to wait in line for just over an hour but it was totally fun when we got inside. There was, of course, yummy cherry pie and coffee being served. One section for the art was done up like the Red Room. Best of all, I bought a supercute Double-R Diner mug! (Oh, there was a note saying that we were being filmed by CBS Home Entertainment , so I guess we can look for a DVD Re-Release or a Blu-Ray soon. I would love it if they could carry over the commentaries from the OOP S1 Box that were left off the Gold Box.) The merchandise that they had is online here. Some of it may be sold out but it's worth a shot. I also picked up some David Lynch-brand coffee and have been rewatching the series with it and doughnuts. I forgot how insanely good the image quality is on the Gold Box -- you can even make out LFB's forehead acne.

By the time I found about about that show on Sunday, it was too late to get over there. So bummed that I missed it--sounds like it was lots of fun! And Clifton's sounds like it was the perfect location, down to its kitschy little redwood chapel.
I really don't need another cup, but I want that RR mug.

Fire Walk With Me 20th Anniversary art show announced. Co-Creator Mark Frost is now a sportswriter and on Twitter. He dropped hints that all the deleted scenes from FWWM may be included in the Blu-Ray of the Gold Box, whenever that comes out. (Which since Lynch tracked down an hour of deleted footage that he thought was lost forever for the Blue Velvet 25th Blu, his stance on 'no special features' has obviously changed. A lot.) The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer is back in print, with a new foreword from Lynch and Frost. The original series is also Netflix Streaming.
