Didn't have the best video quality when I watched the first ep but all the boys looked kind of the same to me.

Blake Lively is probably closer to high school age than the other cast members. I remember she was plucked from high school when she was in that Traveling Pants movie. Which I happened to watch. On the first day it came out. What I do for friends.

The imdb says Blake Lively is 20 and Leighton Meester (who plays Blair) is 21. Penn Bagdley (Dan) is also 21. What's with these kids' names? It's as if their parents KNEW they'd play rich, pretentious teenagers!
I thoroughly enjoyed the first episode and hope the show lasts for a few seasons.

Seriously! Their names crack me up. Leighton Meester , really? And I think the girl who plays Jenny is really only 14. No Ohhhndrea's, I guess.
Really liking this show so far. Very entertaining, and the VO is great.

Funny, I never watched 90210, Dawson's Creek, One Tree Hill, or the O.C., but I'm truly enjoying this show.
This plus America's Next Top Model and Dirty Sexy Money are my Wednesday night crack. Thank goodness for DVRs because I teach until 8 on Wednesdays.

Neither did I, Neds. (Except for a few eps of the OC during Marissa lesbo period).
I watched it on DVR tonight and was all into it -- they were having brunch while hungover, I had brunch while hungover this morning. They were at the Palace, I've stayed at the Palace. Seriously, the show just makes me wish I had taken notes during my preppy private high school years (we had the "bad"/scandalous class) - I'd make a mint.
I want KB to narrate my life. For reals. I love the greek chorus/B's slaves. Plus, women of color in the privileged UES world? Cool. My minor quibble this week is for Mrs. Van Der Woodson to act like Mr. Humphrey is poor - he's in Williamsburg! When I visited last year, a two-bedroom was 500k, easy! The Humphreys place is amazing - I love the garage door thing.
My friend developed the quick conspiracy theory/awesome spec that maybes Mrs. Van Der Woodson suspects that Mr. H is Serena's real dad (or he is), which is why she's being all anti. And we thought that maybe Chuck cameraphone taped S & Nate's hookup.
Speaking of - oh S, why u gots 2 B so dumb bb? Dropping ur phone in the trash? Hello, it's gonna get on GG ASAP. Unless that's what she wanted...dun dun dun.
I liked how Rhianna was the main song used but yet the CW is all promoing the indie bands. Jeez, get a record label already Josh Schwartz.

Unfortunately, this is affordable by New York standards, even cheap. The average price of an apartment in New York is 1.3 million. Brooklyn gentrifiers are definitely seen as nouveau riche/ the great unwashed to the patricians on the UES. I can defiinitely see Dan and Jenny being outsiders because of where they live and being from an artsy family. Was their place more brownstone/ carriage house or a loft? I'll have to rewatch. The Humphreys seem much more Park Slope/ Brooklyn Heights than Williamsburg to me. The second episode was a vast improvement over the first one. The interiors and the wardrobe on this show are great. Also Serena just may be my favorite teen heroine on a nighttime soap. She's got moxie; it's a nice change from Joey Potter/ Marissa Cooper.

Oh, totally Park Slope. And it's sad that I know this solely from Gawker. But the 500k piece was like in a dingy alley. I walked by and knew it wasn't bad, price-wise, but, alley. All the exposed brick in the Humphreys would make it megapricey. Srsly, I know, right? My BFF was ZOMG, wait til you see what B is wearing in this one scene. That corset lingerie number? Hot. The dress of temptation was pretty nice. But S was so wearing denim Britney cootershorts when she showed up for brunch though. WTF? The Palace is a classy joint. You're right across from a church. Tone it down, whore. The guys just make me wish I had gone to prep school in New England rather than the South. I hope they have a tea partay soon. Field hockey catfight next week. Bring it!

I wore a neckerchief today, because Serena made it look so cute. Damn this show.

I really like this show. S.V.D.W. is awesome and I pretty much like all the rest also. I agree that only the little sister looks young enough to actually be in HS. The only very small pet peeve I have is the final scene where Serena's new BF (shyguy can't remember his name) walks out because Blair et al said that she is a slut etc.
I really despise plot lines where nerdy teenage boys build popular beautiful girls up so much and then when they actually get to um...talk to them and find out that they are actually human and have a personality and a life other than being their pedestal girl they get all grumpy and tantrummy and discard said girl for being a slut or a liar or (insert other derogatory characterization here.) I mean what business is it of his to be a brat? He could have at least walked her out and said let's talk later. I mean don't you want to get to know her? Oh yeah that's right it's either perfection or nuttin'.
Things like this happen in real life so I guess it should be in the show but it is so not fair to the gal. Go Serena!
