That was hilarious. I loved it when he was trying to describe Jesse. Cranston is crazy talented.

Resurrecting this very old thread because I've been rewatching BB on Netflix. It was a phenomenal show that holds up the second time around. This time, since I already know what's coming, I've been paying more attention to just how well the story was structured and just how well all the foreshadowing payed off. Great stuff!
I really loved all of the characters- even, or maybe especially the bad guys. I know the show was all about Walt, but damn it Gus Fring was SO awesome!! I loved every single character except Lydia who was just horrible and had zero redeeming qualities and that super creepy Todd who was just 100% sociopath and all his Nazi pals. I remember a lot of folks hating on Skylar back when the show first aired. But at her worst, she was just passive aggressive and annoying. And at her best she was fairly brilliant and resourceful. Anything she did to undermine Walt... well, he was doing some pretty evil crap and needed to be foiled at times. He always claimed to do what he did for his family. But in all honesty, his ego played a huge part in his motivations whereas Skylar really did put her family first (except when she was passively aggressively acting out because Walt's behavior made her miserable). So I never got the Skylar hate. Lydia hate? Todd hate? Heck yes!
I still love Walt as a well written character- even though he was pretty despicable overall. But boy howdy did he cause a lot of collateral damage. I mean not just the people he killed, or had killed or got killed just for being near him- and of course the plane crash which was kind of his fault in a round about way. But more than just the deaths- he put Los Pollos Hermanos out of business when he offed Gus! I didn't notice that the first time around. But on rewatch they flat out say all the chains were shut down. I mean- that's good news for the chickens I guess. But bad news for all the employees who were just doing their best to serve what was supposed to be tasty food (it looked pretty nasty on screen tbh). That's a heck of a lot of death and human misery just cause one guy got cancer and felt butt hurt about how his life had turned out up to that point.
Great show though!!

Sundance Channel is playing four back-to-back episodes every Wednesday night (starting last week). Watching the pilot again knowing all that happens after was a trip. Seeing Walt morph from that dying chemistry teacher who just wanted to provide for his family after he was gone to being ruthless Heisenberg was just TV at its best. And the ending was pitch-perfect, right down to the song playing over that final scene.

Breaking Bad, to me, was a perfect show. I came into it in the third season and was able to go back and watch the early stuff and then progress to the end of the series. The ending was perfect. There were other shows I've watched in their entirety—The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire spring to mind—that were strong into their final seasons but had finales that left me kinda "meh."
When I saw that Jesse Plemons was in Fargo I bugged out a little in a "OMG it's Todd from Breaking Bad!!" way--I *HATED* his character on BB and what he did to the character Jesse. I guess I had a hard time separating the character from the the actor, but I guess I'm glad the actor is doing well. I tend to have a hard time watching actors on beloved series move on...they're supposed to stay hermetically sealed in the little box in which I knew them.

I'm probably alone in this, but by the end of the series, I was just hanging on, hate watching. Yes it was brilliantly written and acted. But by the end I just absolutely loathed every single one of the characters. Jesse was the only character I didn't totally hate.

Ha...you're right--everyone was pretty despicable by the end. I really liked Hank's character, though, too. He could be a real jackass at times but he was a good man underneath it all. His final episode was gut wrenching. You knew it was going to happen, but damn. I spent most of the series not liking Marie but by the last episode I had a lot of compassion for her.
I LOVED Gus even though he was a total bad guy. What an awesome performance by Giancarlo Esposito.

The box cutter scene was epic- the man didn't say anything for several minutes, and he still spooked me to no end.

The box cutter scene was amazing. I remember noticing at the time in the entire episode that Jesse did not speak at all until the very end.

I finally finished with my re-watch and have so many thoughts and feelings I want to share, but unfortunately no time to do it tonight. So for now, I'll just leave y'all with this question: Do You Wanna Build a Meth Lab? ;-D!!
