Some of my favourites:
Saint Etienne - Smash the System: hits and more. I had an irrational dislike towards them in the nineties, but now I'm in love. Especially with "Who do You think You are". Roxy Music - Manifesto. Just listening to Bryan Ferry makes me all hot and bothered. Faith No More - Angel Dust. Maybe not easy listening but it never gets boring. Pixies - Bossanova Depeche Mode - Violator
Hm.Maybe I should update my CD collection a bit.

I've really been scrounging for some new music to get excited about, but for the time being, I've been sticking to some old favorites.
O.K. Computer - Radiohead The Argument - Fugazi Kaleidoscope - Candy Says

SUCH a great album... and it's aged well, too. (She said objectively....)

I recently purchased The Hour of Bewilderbeast by Badly Drawn Boy, and I am obsessed with it. It really is fantastic.
I also bought the greatest hits CD from the Gin Blossoms. They were a really catchy band from the 90's. I forgot how much I liked their songs back in the day.
Any album by The Shins is great. Ditto Iron & Wine. Magnetic Fields as well.
I really like all of Rufus Wainwright's albums. They are so different, there's always one for one of my moods.
I also adore Patty Griffin. All of her CDs.
Madeleine Peyroux's Careless Love is jazzy fun.

Beastie Boys "Lisense to Ill." Gets me in old-skool mode.
Scissor Sisters-- their cover of Comfortably Numb took some balls. It was something that could've gone horribly wrong, but it didn't. One of my favorite tracks on the album.
Jeff Buckley "Grace."
Metallica "Master of Puppets." I long for the days before they became sellout tools.
Tenacious D.

My current favorite CD is Her Majesty the Decemberists by The Decemberists. They are one of the few bands I have heard of that deals with such historical subject matter, and I love Colin Meloy's voice.

My two all-time favorites are Hole, "Live Through This" and the Cranberries, "Everyone Else is Doing It, So Why Can't We?" Both are relics from my freshman year of college oh-I'm-so-angry routine. They both still stand up over time, and they are always in heavy rotation.
The other night I was working (my 2nd job at Express) and was listening to "Live Through This" in the backroom. This (dumb) girl comes back and says, "Is this Ashlee Simpson?" I just about throttled her.
High school favorites included:
Mariah Carey, "Mariah Carey" and "Music Box" Chicago, "Greatest Hits 1982-89" Janet Jackson "Rhythm Nation 1814" and "janet" Queen "Classic Queen"
Yeah, I was weird. Other faves include that 2nd Fiona Apple album, my assortment of Beatles CDs, and REM's "Automatic for the People," which is stunning.

Veruca Salt - "Eight Arms To Hold You" Unwritten Law - "Here's To The Mourning" Kittie - "Until The End" Aimee Allen - "I'd Start A Revolution" Never officially released since she was dropped from her label (She is hella crazy...). Aimee's still awesome, tho. Hole - "Live Through This" and "Celebrity Skin" (Forgot to add the second album! Meep.) Now if only we could ban Asslee from using a few bits of Celebrity Skin's lyrics in her concerts. Gah!
