I'm digging the new Tweet cd. After two cds, I am now officially putting Ms. Tweet on the must-buy-before-hearing-the-cd list.

Anthony Hamilton has a new Live DVD (with pointless bonus CD) out. It's documentary style with bits from home in Charlotte (yay!) and a Live concert in Atlanta mixed in.
I'm wavering on whether it was worth the money. I love his music and his voice...but his stage show (visually) ain't much to look at.... SOOOO...this really could have been a live concert CD with an added DVD of stuff from home, music videos, extras. I popped it in last night and listened to it...but only really *looked* during the stuff in Charlotte (and I live in Charlotte now so I was interested to see all of that).
The man's voice is the truth, though. F'real.
I'm going to see Floetry tonight at Ovens Auditorium. Pray that I stay awake.

Was the music good on the DVD?

re: A. Hamilton. The music is good. The only qualm I have is they cut off probably the most popular song by the man ...."Charlene". Only about half of it is part of the live concert. (Wackness.)
re: Floetry concert. $30 for tickets. They sung 6 songs and left. Nothing from the new cd (which is coming out...sometime) Not lying. On stage about 30 minutes. Marsha would sing and then go somewhere and sit down. Natalie at least was nice enough to chat a bit. Marsha seemed like she would have rather been in the bed somewhere.
Won't be buying the new CD (they aren't that interesting to begin with....it was something to do on a saturday night).
It's called "Flo'ology". Really...it's time to let it go.

I'm happy to say that I've never gone to a bad concert. Of course, I don't go to that many, but back in the day, when I was going, I never saw a bad performance.
These are the people that I saw: Michael, Prince, George Michael, and even before-the-home-video R Kelly. I even saw free concerts that were good.
This is kind of off topic, but I wonder whether anyone saw the stage performance called, "It Ain't Nothing But the Blues"?

It's called "Flo'ology". Really...it's time to let it go. I never did like Floetry, saw them for free in Philly before they dropped the first album some years back and I wasn't impressed. They really thought they were deep and I couldn't understand what the hell they were talking about. Is it me, or does the new soul artists today seem pretentious? Not all of them, and I don't like lumping them together, but certain ones. They act like they are doing us a favor by sharing their "enlightenment" through music. It gets really old. Where the hell is Maxwell?!

you should hear me when listening to an Erykah Badu cd or bootleg concert and she starts talking in between songs. I go "erykah! you're talking nah nah nah...dont' wanna hear that!" and skip to the next song. Just keep singing, honey. My cipher won't ever be complete.

I don't know if he qualifies as soul but I am feeling Kem's new single, "I Can't Stop Loving You". I hope he has more hits off of this new album. Speaking of good free concerts I saw him for free about two years ago when he was promoting "Love Calls". He was good. Didn't set the night on fire, but he was certainly sexy. Can't beat free.

Kem has been recognized by the Food & Drug Administration as a viable cure for insomnia.
ETA: but you're right, you can't beat free.

Heh. I snickered in recognition at that. I was listening to her live CD the other day and thought "cyphers, 360 degrees, ankhs...whatevs, girl just sang!".
OT: I downloaded new Mint Condition last night. Haven't listened to it yet but I'm hard pressed to worry if I got my 9.99 worth as I've loved MC from way back.
