Just kidding, OS, kind of.
I have to retract what I said about John Legend. I bought his cd, because it was on sale, and I totally love the tracks that are not getting any airplay.
"Get High" is so sublime and the 3 to 4 song following it are outstanding. However, I will not play "Ordinary People", because it's puke.

I never could get down with Conya Doss. I liked about 4 songs from her first CD and I couldn't make it through the second one.
She seems so "Fisher Price - Baby's 1st NeoSoul" to me. Snooze-tastic.

I heard Stevie's single, and it ain't that great.
Couldn't believe Amerie won Soul Woman of the Year award, so not right.
If they couldn't find a suitable candidate, I think they shouldn't chose a winner, plain and simple.

"Pass Me Over" on Hamilton's CD = worth the price of the entire thing.

My boyfriend just surprised me with tickets to see Layla Hathaway and Eric Benet on Feb 17th at a small auditorium in NJ. I can't wait.
You know I will report back with a review.

I loved that song she sang along with this jazz artist. Dangit, I wish I could recall that song. She has a great smokey voice, which I like to hear. I think the problem with a lot of black singers on the radio is the fact that they lack maturity in their voice. The same goes for other races, as well. However, as a whole, there were more mature sounding voices coming from black singers back in the day.
Even in the gumball phase of Jackson 5, there was the "Whose's Loving You" song that transcended age ranges.
Switching gears -- Eric Benet, not feeling him. That's mostly due to limited radio play, and the stuff that I did hear, I wasn't impressed.
Re: Anthony Hamilton
I better play, "Pass Me Over" because I don't think I heard that song. So far, I'm not that floored by the cd. It's definately not better than or equal to his first cd, like the record review said it would be. I like two songs, but that can change if I play the cd more often or to the end.

Wilson "The Wicked" Pickett died today. I saw him in concert several years ago and he put on a show that I'll never forget. I was on my feet dancing and singing along for the entire show. Whoo, I felt like a limp sweaty rag when it was over. RIP Mr. Pickett.
