Any opinions on the new Kaiser Chiefs album? I've liked them ever since I saw them open for Weezer, so I'm wondering if it's worth picking up.

I love "Ruby" and "Everything is Average Nowadays" but then again I like all the songs by them.

In awesome news the Girls Aloud v. Sugababes cover of Walk this Way is on the internets. Its not as good as I had hoped, but its for charity and they all look pretty-including Nicola, who usually looks so out of place and uncomfortable. Oh god, the song and video are so awful but then again, I can't stand either group. I am still trying to get over the awful Sugababe song about pushing the button or whatever they are singing. I think they could have done a better job with the song if they didn't rip off the Aeorsmith/Run DMC version. If you are going to do a cover, at least attempt to make it your own.

I love Girls Aloud, but I hate "Walk This Way." I was expecting so much more from that collaboration.

Once again, I think I have heard it all and then something else happens. God, Keith Richards is so gross.

Anyone else listen to Kate Walsh? I love both her albums, but I like "Clocktower Park" better. I can listen to "Junebug" on repeat for hours.

Watch out for the Noisettes. I've heard two of their songs, "Sister Rosetta" and "Don't Give Up." Good stuff.
Now, I'm a fan.

Maybe this belongs in the True Confessions thread, but the first post in this thread turned me on to McFly, and I've luffed them ever since. Besides a brief period of NKOTB obsession in the first grade, I had completely avoided going ga-ga over any cheesy boyband until these fellas came along. There's something so sunny and joyful about their music (their harmonies and melodies are reminiscent of early Beatles music and the Beach Boys, IMO). "All About You" never fails to warm the cold, cold cockles of my heart, and their newer stuff is awesome too, especially the kicky cover of "Baby's Coming Back." I keep waiting for them to go emo or for one of the bandmembers to punch a paparazzi and end up in rehab, but they just keep putting out sterling pop records, and I keep eating them up.
My excuse is that America has no true pop bands at the moment; we have pop bands posing as emo wankers (Fall Out Boy) and pop bands posing as hard rockers (Daughtry) but no straight-up pop bands. And sometimes I just want to listen to some mildly cheesy, pretty pop music. Hence the McFly adoration.
I even went to see that dumb Lohan movie Just My Luck because they were in it.

I love McFly. Well, I used to. I'm sort of over them now, but their first album is still one of my favorite things to listen to in the summer.
