There was one Pigeon Detectives song I used to like quite a bit, but I listened to their album recently and found it pretty boring. I might give it another try if it's released here. I noticed the other day that the Long Blondes' album has been released in the US-- it's great. The Cribs have a really good album that's going to be released here, too, I think tomorrow. I love those guys.

The Cribs are cool as well.
"Men's Needs" is a catchy tune.
I mentioned the Enemy because their album is at the top of the U.K. charts.

I've never listened to the Enemy before. Thanks for the heads-up. The Cribs are amazing. I'd love to catch them on tour, but they aren't coming anywhere near me.

Ooh, thanks for the heads up on some new British bands to watch. It is strangely validating when a British act that I've been following for awhile hits it big in America; it gives me a little bit of street cred. Of course it sucks when you initially like the act when no one in America has heard of them and then grow to hate them when they become omnipresent in the States. (Hello, Natasha Bedingfield. I loved "Unwritten" until it was played in the trailer for every damn chick flick over the last year-and-a-half.)
Then there are guys like James Blunt. When I was living in London in 2005, I thought I couldn't hate that "You're Beautiful" drivel any more passionately. Then I returned to the States and he was just starting to get radio play and I had to endure another 6 months of that tripe.

I know the feeling.
I was listening to Corinne Bailey Rae, Paolo Nutini, and James Morrison before they broke the U.S. market so I feel an egotistical sense of pride knowing their music before everyone else did.

Mercury Prize nominees. I really hope Jamie T gets it. I am really baffled by some of the nominees. It's like they just threw them in because they couldn't come up with anything else.

I see the Klaxxons and the View are nominated as well. I didn't like the Klaxxons at first, now I've change my opinion of them. I liked the View's "Same Jeans" but I don't know if it's enough for them to win.
As much as I adore my guys the Arctic Monkeys, I don't think they'll win two years in a row.

I think the View's album is mostly filler. I like a couple of their songs, but they sound like a watered-down Libertines to me. I really don't think their album belongs there. The same thing happened to me with Klaxons! I used to really dislike them, but their album has grown on me. I love "Gravity's Rainbow."
I don't think Arctic Monkeys will win again either. I bet they will give it to Amy Winehouse.

All right, I'm obsessed with the Editors. I think I like Every End Has a Start almost as much as The Back Room. I'm also seeing them when they come to Chicago this month. Anyone else? No? Just me then.
Nedsdag, thanks for the heads up on The Enemy & Pigeon Detectives. I love the Enemy. You're my resource for good British music.
