This thread is for those songs that just irk you SO much that you want to rip your own ears off. I can tolerate most songs, even if they're in a certain genre that I don't care for, but there are some songs that will make me dive for the radio dial to turn the channel.
Right now there are two songs that REALLY get to me. One is "Get Right" by Jennifer Lopez. It's just so discombobulated, shrill, and grating (both the melody AND the "singing").
I thought modern music couldn't get much worse than this until I had the displeasure of hearing Amerie's "One Thing". It takes all of the things I loathe about "Get Right" but takes it up about a hundred notches. I cannot tolerate even a few bars of this shrill mess. I don't get it... it's like purposely off key. How could this possibly sound pleasing to anyone's ears?
Ironically, I found out recently that J. Ho tried to get her hands on "One Thing" but lost the song to Amerie. How in the hell do songs like these make it to the airwaves? Unfortunately, I listen primarily to Urban/R&B, so I find myself running to change the channel or hit "mute" quite frequently throughout the day to avoid these monstrosities.
So, what songs do you just absolutely despise so much that you'll risk life and limb to rush to change the channel while driving?

A song, from I think the 80's, that I used to hear all the time on our office radio station..."Break My Stride" or something like that.
That perky little man voice must never be heard again!

Just about any and all c(o)untry music will cause me to have brain convulsions. I've been known to leave stores, restaurants and other public places if they're playing c(o)untry music. Can't. STAND! IT!!

Anything by Shania Twain. I stand by my opinion that my country could not have done worse than inflicting this human Velveeta slice on the rest of the world. It's not country, it's not pop, it's shit.
And oh yes, I take Bryan Adams and Celine Dion into account.

Vacationland, what have I done to displease you?? That link was cruel and heinous.
Those are some seriously effed up lyrics:
Never let another girl like you work me over Never let another girl like you drag me under If I meet another girl like you I will tell her Never want another girl like you have to say - oh!
Done in such a chipper manner with muzak as the background, it's all kinds of wrong.

My apologies. That link should've had an Old School Heinous Perm and 'Stache warning.
My bad.
(Yeah, not missing that brand of casual, perky wimmen-hatin'!)

Not only was the artist (and I use the term loosely) the proud owner of a "perky little man voice" --heh-- he was quite the Fashion Don't, too. I bet he had a tee-shirt that said "Mustache Rides for a Nickel." Songs that make me want to sandblast my ear canals are as follows: "F--- it. I don't want you back." The title makes you think "cool bitter song" but the music and his whiney voice make the song sound like a boy-band reject (with the f-bomb added in there for street cred) "I hope you dance" by Leeann Womack. The song should've been called "How many Hallmark platitudes can I cram into one line?" "Soldier" by Destiny's Child. I don't need to comment. I'm hating on a lot of emo right now. Too damn whiney.

Close. "Free Mustache Rides." Under an unstructured white linen jacket with the sleeves rolled up.
(Oh, c'mon, you know it's true. Just look at him!)

Songs that make me want to shoot myself:
Gwen Stefani: Whatcha waiting for? (For this crap never to be played again)
Lose my breath, Destiny's Child (You try and watch dance rehearsals to that song for three friggin hours)
And there's this song called "four to the floor" that popular over here right now, which also makes me want to scream bloody murder every time I hear it.
