I'm bumping this up for all of us on the Weight Loss thread who're singing the praises of our iPods and ellipticals!
I have a bunch of different workout playlists: Disco, Alt., Teen Poo, Club... sometimes no one gets me going like some BSB and Britney, other times, I need some Joy Division and Gary Numan to get me going.

Yay, I just purchased an iPod today, so all of the suggestions are wonderful! And I love mash-ups, I just recently learned about them after hearing Rapture Riders on Alias the other night. It's a mix of Blondies Rapture and The Doors Riders on The Storm. Awesome!

I wrote this in the Weighty Issues thread but I'll just repeat here...
I have two lists: List One: Very pop (please note, this list doesn’t reflect my general music taste) -Waiting for Tonight—Jennifer Lopez -Lose My Breath—Destiny’s Child -Pon de Replay (radio edit)—Rihanna -All Things (Just Keep Getting Better)—Widelife -Gotta Get Through This—Daniel Bedingfield -Thunder—Prince -Come and Get Your Love—Real McCoy -Fighter—Christina Aguilera -Pigeonhed—Battle Flag—Forces of Nature Soundtrack
List Two: World Music; I love it! Album— -Tuku Music—Oliver Mtukudzi-- Very happy, upbeat African music …and because I’m strange… -Putumayo Kids: Caribbean Playground—It has fun upbeat Caribbean music and it reminds me of vacation (or a dream vacation).
Oh, I also want to add that in Itunes, there is a section called Imix--I just search for "workout music" and you get a bunch of different playlists that people have put together. Most are not my style but some are.

My Krav Maga instructor, who may otherwise be the perfect human, will not stop playing Rage Against The Machine in class. I have begged and pleaded, and she keeps telling me she'll find something else to play, but it keeps not happening, and four hours a week of Rage is TOO MUCH.
I prefer darkstep and jump-up for working out. Aphrodite's self-titled LP from '99 has been a standby forever.

I have six workout mix CDs that I made, but I have one favorite, and I can remember the track listing by heart...I may be missing one or two songs, but here's the jist:
1. Gotta Tell You--Samantha Mumba 2. Don't Turn Out the Lights--Enrique Iglesias 3. Manhunt (from the Flashdance soundtrack) (oh yeah, that's right!) 5. I'm a Slave 4 U--Britney 6. I Feel For You--Chaka Khan 7. Strike it Up--Black Box 8. Move This--Technotronic 9. Gonna Make You Sweat--C+C Music Factory 10. Control--Janet Jackson 11. Ready to Go--Republica 12. Canned Heat--Jamiroquai 13. Pleasure Principle--Janet Jackson 14. What Have You Done For Me Lately--Janet Jackson
I may have missed "Brand New Lover" by Dead or Alive and/or "Send Me an Angel" by Real Life, but those might also be on some other mix. Anyway, feel free to copy this mix--you won't be sorry!!!!

Am I the only person that worries that the person on the machine next to me can hear my music and is silently judging my taste? The other day, I was on the cross-country ski machine listening to "Hit Me Baby One More Time" and I imagined I saw a disdainful look on the face of the hot guy next to me. I quickly skipped ahead to the LoveSpitLove version of "How Soon Is Now" and when we got in sync with our rhythm, I then felt obligated to scan through the iPod to find other songs I thought he might like.
Just me, then? I'll add it to the list for my next therapy session.

"Harder Better Faster Stronger" by Daft Punk is one of my newer favorite songs to play at the beginning of a run, makes you want do the very best! "I'm Not Sick But I'm Not Well" by Lit follows, it's pretty fast and a fun song. "We Run This" by Missy Elliot HELLS YES, it's the song from the Stick It trailer. It makes my sorry ass feel like a marathon woman, never fails to pump me uppp.
And then there are a bunch of random current music, like "Check Up On It" by Beyonce, "First" by Lindsay Lohan, "Lose My Breath" by Destiny's Child, etc etc.

Here's what I've been working out to lately:
"Dare" by Gorillaz (fun!) "Situation" by Yaz "Hips Don't Lie" by Shakira "Call On Me" (Eric Prydz remix, because I'm a nerd and love this song) "Dangerous (On the Dancefloor) by Busto & Bones "Move Your Feet" by Junior Senior "It's Like That" by Run DMC "Beware of the Boys" by Punjabi MC/Jay Z (don't look at me like that, it's got the fun "Knight Rider" music in it!) "Take Me Out" by Franz Ferdinand "Notorious" by Duran Duran
That's all I can think of at the mo'.
I also like working out to upbeat Irish/Celtic music. So much fun!
