I second Silent Alarm by Bloc Party. I had a kickass run last night listening to nothing but that CD.

Excellent thread! My all-time favorite work-out songs that go on every mix are "Hungry Like the Wolf," "Don't Bring Me Down," and "Our Lips are Sealed." For the obligatory Prince and Madonna my faves are "Kiss," "When Doves Cry," "Get Into the Groove" and "Ray of Light." My current favorite track is Of Montreal's "Suffer for Fashion".

Bumping this up because I'm in need of some new music for my elliptical/treadmill workouts. Any suggestions?

Marilyn Manson, because they always have a hard bassy beat which I need. Other then that I don't go to specific bands per se, I just have different songs on my music player. I have to like the song and it has to have a regular disco like beat. It doesn't have to be disco and I'd prefer that it was not. There are many rock songs that have that type of beat. For example, one of my all time favorite workout songs is The Revolution By Night, by Blue Oyster Cult. I also always like Goin' to a Go-Go by the Rolling Stones. Songs like this really get me goin and I can really push it at the gym. I also like to crank something I like (again deep bassy beat) in the car on the way there. But I won't do it for too long as It gives me something to want while on the treadmill or elypitcal

I love it! (cough*junior high in 1991) I have a lot of rap and hip hop on my mix because my stride is perfectly in beat with Hypnotize and "Ain't Got Time to Waste" by AIM...and the older I get, the more I like the bravado of NWA et al. It matches my running mentality: go to hell, PE class! I'm ballin' now! Double birds!
