What a hateful old idiot. The only surprising thing to me is that it's taken this long for her to cross the line (in the network's eyes). I'll never understand how you mess up a gig like The Talk or The View, you're literally paid to blab your opinions for an hour and go home.

My dear father used to say the exact same thing. He accompanied this sentiment with his, "old man wave."

The Talk is on hiatus due to previous comments Sharon made...they extended said hiatus until 3/23 as a result of that little discovery. I had also posted this over in the Celebs Behaving Badly thread. I had forgotten Sharon had her own thread. I also had posted a clip of the exchange between Sharon and Sheryl Underwood. Sheryl did her best to remain composed and respectful while Sharon was becoming more and more defensive. All of this over Piers Morgan. I'll never understand how you mess up a gig like The Talk or The View, you're literally paid to blab your opinions for an hour and go home. Ask Sharon's buddy Piers.

That clip was awful. Sharon scolding Sheryl not to cry and "if anyone should be crying, it should be me" made me hate her.

There are so many Sharon stories from waaaay back (sending someone feces, etc) but then I think the narrative was that she was ballsy and didn’t take crap from anyone and good for her to keeping Ozzy’s career alive and him relevant.

My most vivid image of Sharon was her tossing a ham into her neighbor’s yard because they were singing Kumbaya or something two decades ago. Look, you can’t have it both ways.
You can’t live or work for decades in another country, then cry foul because “you’re just being you” ruffle feathers on that country that pays your rent.
The tone death racist overtones is even causing employment problems in your own country.
And now you don’t seem like a ballsy woman who speaks her mind, you are more of the Boomer pushy mouthy uncle who people avoid because he is such a tremendous pain in the ass. It looks like the network and the audience is finally shut with that noise, from her and Piers, on both sides of the pond.
I’m just surprised (really surprised!) she’s been around this long. They were the more trashy Kardashians back in the day.

I watched The Talk for a while in its first few years. I remember it was always a treat when they would announce Mrs. O would be out for the week because she was back in England. I really liked both Leah Remini and Holly Robinson Peete and was disappointed when they were fired. Both of them having been saying the reason why since it happened, so they aren't just coming up with it now.
Leah was sometimes overly loud, wasn't great at asking guests questions, and often interrupted the flow of conversations in an awkward way, so I could understand her firing even though I happened to like her. But Holly was always a good host and I liked her contributions. Yes, her replacement, Aisha Tyler, was much better, but it still would have been nice to have kept Holly.
Anyway, it's amazing Sharon got away all these years with making racial and homophobic slurs about the show's producers/the head of the network's wife.

The thing that cracks me up is that, yeah she probably was set up by the producers. But it would have been a moot point if Sharon hadn't opened her mouth and let all the garbage flow out.
She's clearly one of those people who sees racism as only being white hoods and nooses. So to her way of thinking she's not a racist.

Yeah, these things are usually planned beforehand. Right before Rosie left The View, she had a huge argument about politics with Elisabeth Hasselbeck, and Rosie said part of the reason she left is because she knew it was a set-up, that Elisabeth was "fed" scripted lines/talking points to say to her, and that the producers had already set up the camera angles/split screen for the fight beforehand.
Still, as you pointed out: both Sharon and Rosie didn't need to take the bait.
