But it’s a work place, and you can’t go around screaming and insulting people. But that’s not how the people who support Sharon will see it. I think that is the official reason why she was let go. I haven't watched The Talk in a long time and I didn't watch the whole Sharon-Sheryl discussion, but The Talk is not The View. It is not a show where they have fiery political debates. It sounds like Sharon was much more aggressive towards Sheryl than is the norm.

The problem to me is less that she didn’t understand the racist things Morgan has said about Meghan, and more about HOW she said it. The “don’t cry, I should be crying“ nonsense. My own company kicked listening sessions/diversity and sensitivity training into high gear after the events of last summer. That’s the perfect forum for talking through what you think, feel, etc. But it’s a work place, and you can’t go around screaming and insulting people. But that’s not how the people who support Sharon will see it. They’ll say she is being railroaded because she expressed her feelings. A lot of people think that the women on these talkshows are just a group of friends sitting around when they are coworkers first. They may eventually become friends in their off time, but part of their job is to act chummier than perhaps they really are. I'm curious, do people like Sharon have to sit through diversity training, etc? Because I've done trainings, and we also get short workshops and such. Heck, our staff day last year was devoted to diversity training. Would whoever owns the show make them do it?

Everything our company has done thus far has been voluntary. But I am on the internal comms team, and just yesterday I was drafting a message directed to managers, including senior leadership, about some upcoming classes that are required for everyone. In the case of the on-talent, they don’t run the show. I don’t see any reason why they would be able to get out of the required training.

She even gave an interview with Entertainment Tonight during the investigation, in which she said that she felt like a victim and a martyr. I also don't think that Sharon probably understands the concept of civility in the workplace. I get the sense that she has managed to get away with some uncivil behavior in the workplace for years. I normally don't watch The Talk at all, but I watched the clip of the incident. Kudos for Sheryl Underwood for keeping her cool and keeping it professional, because I imagine it wasn't wasn't easy for her to do so.

I don't think Sharon has been in a "normal" workplace in a long time, where she wasn't either the talent (who often get let off the hook for bad behavior) or the talent's wife (who from the sound of things pulled a lot of shady stuff over the years.)

The irony is that Sharon, one person who apparently needs diversity and sensitivity training the most, won't be around for it. I'm a little pleasantly surprised that Sharon was let go. They should have made her go thru diversity training and then let her go. Because she desperately needs it.

Adios, Sharon! Guess I won’t S(C)ee Yo(u) (N)ext (T)uesday. Or Monday. Or whenever The Talk comes back.
