I checked and couldn't find anything similar - hope this is a good one.
Please post songs that you once liked, but have been ruined for you by association with a tv show or movie you can't stand. For me, I now can't stand "With or Without You" now because of the association with the whole Ross and Rachel saga on Friends. I also loved Paula Cole's "I don 't wanna wait" before it was stolen by Dawson's Creek.

I can't stand "Imagine" by John Lennon anymore because I've seen too many figure skating performances to it by crappy skaters who think they're making some statement of peace. Johnny Weir, Nicole Bobek, ice dancers Wing and Lowe, etc.
And I found it a lot harder to take "Only Time" by Enya seriously after having seen that horrible crapfest of a movie called "Sweet November". God that movie was awful.

Anything by Coldplay. Can't say I am a big fan, but there was a song or three I enjoyed. Not anymore. The grocery I work inside of, a different business, has seemed to have run out of new cds to play on the overhead. It's either one particular 70's soul cd that loops every hour (with Midnight Train To Georgia twice in a row), or it's the newest Coldplay cd (the XYZ one). Every flippin' day.

I used to love "Stuck in the Middle With You" by (I think) Steeler's Wheel. But the EAR SCENE from Resevoir Dogs squicked me out and I can't disassociate the song from the scene.

Many songs are ruined for me during tragedies. Does this happen in your city or it just a St. Louis thing? After the Oklahoma City Bombing, some genius took "Lightning Crashes" and put in news bits about people dying. Wow, thanks. Same thing happened w/ 9/11 and "New York Minute" and a few other songs I can't think of right now. That will definitely ruin songs. Thanks, dorks--how dare you ruin a Don Henley song for me?!?!? (Yes, I like Don Henley. Shut up.) ETA--Amen garnet927. "Take a Bow" was played ad nauseum during the end of 90210, but....I was all right w/ that.

Lots of songs I like are killed forever from being overplayed on the radio. The biggies are Coldplay, The Killers, and Maroon 5. *blush*

Maybe this sounds corny, but I heard "Imagine" right after the 9/11 attacks, and it completely got to me. That one time just killed it for me.

Not they were at the top of my All-Time Hit List, but I can never hear the original "These Boots Were Made For Walking" or "I Love Rock and Roll" because of their remakes.
Yuck, just...yuck!

In a kind of similar vein, I used to enjoy Maroon 5 until I started hearing about how much of an asshat the singer is. That kind of ruined them for me.
