In a kind of similar vein, I used to enjoy Maroon 5 until I started hearing about how much of an asshat the singer is. That kind of ruined them for me. This sounds like my relationship with John Mayer's music. I loved it when it first came out ( Your body is a Wonderland). I even still liked it after the video and learning of the JM and JLH relationship. No, what ruined it for me was hearing John Mayer interviewed by a local radio station. In the interview, JM declared his biggest turn on was when a girl was crying. According to him, girls are just so vulnerable and open when they are crying and upset, so he thinks its the perfect opportunity to make a move. Just ewwww! Even the people who interviewed him were kinda squicked out.

One word - "Smooth".
One other word - "overplayed"

How about any classic Rock N Roll song, used in every freaking car commercial ever made?? Ugh.

"Like a rock! Ooooo Like a rock!"
That really was a great song once.

This is a fun thread topic!
I would pick 'Linger' by the Cranberries because it was used in 94% of movie soundtracks and commercials from 1993-1999. And anything by Coldplay for the same reason, but from 01-05.
Also, Iggy Pop's 'Lust for Life' because I think of Carnival cruises whenever I hear it on the radio.

Ha! I think of Scottish heroin addicts which is probably not the image Carnival is going for.
I'd say Enya was pretty much ruined for me by association with all kinds of whacked out New Age types. Quite a few other Irish vocalists too. And whales.

The disco song "Second Time Around." I read Cupid and Diana a few years back and I just hated that book. Anyway, the main character owns a vintage store called Second Time Around. Now every time I hear that song, I think of that book.

Vanilla Ice and his stupid "Ice, Ice Baby" song forever ruined Queen & David Bowie's vastly superior "Under Pressure". I tried to get over it and I just can't. The moment I hear the opening bars, I have to change the radio. That song is dead to me.

Jack and Diane. Played by every crappy cover band in college. I can't even stand to hear the first few bars now.

That one Red Hot Chilli Pepper song that's in the movie Center Stage. I watch that movie a lot and I can never, ever take that song seriously as a rock song when everytime I hear it, I think of Jodie Sawyer spinning around in jazz dance class. As well as Cooper Nielsen's package in those sweats.
