Hell, I was the only first grader I know who knew what Handel's Messiah was, because Handel is my father's favorite composer.

I've never done the whole kids' music route. My kids got The Beatles, The Grateful Dead, Dave Matthews Band, The Ramones, Green Day, Union Station, Johnny Cash, The Clash, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Tchaichovsky, etc. and so on, from day one. I was NOT going to listen to years of "The Wheels on the Bus"/ SNAKES ON A BUS!!!
Topic: I can't hear Jackon Browne's "Somebody's Baby" without thinking of the girl losing her virginity in "Fast Times at Ridgemont High". It kind of squicks me out.

I can't listen to "Hungry Like a Wolf" anymore without conjuring up an image of Andy Dick and a carrot from "Old School." And sadly, I used to like that song. Damn you Andy Dick! *Shakes fist*

"Hungry Like the Wolf" will always remind me of my favorite bad TV movie, "Small Sacrifices" with Farrah Fawcett. That song is playing when the main character shoots her children. Horrible as that is, I still love that song, although it is a bit tainted for me, considering the movie was based on a true story.

That creepy way she's grooving to the song and tapping her foot and her pencil in the courtroom when they play the song is just unnerving.

I still giggle when I think of that! Duran Duran... their music makes people kill!
I'm actually surprised that didn't get brought up at our annual Hypocrite High School Non-Christian Music is BAD assemblies.

I too always think of that movie when I hear Hungry Like the Wolf. I wouldn't say it ruined it for me though.

One song that has been ruined for me is Weird Al's "Christmas At Ground Zero", for obvious reasons.
Unlike some people, CEMJ music doesn't bother me even with how freaky he is, but the one song I can't even listen to anymore is "PYT (Pretty Young Thing)". I heard it a while ago and the entire time I was thinking "He probably didn't have a girl in mind while he was singing this song."

You are the best mom ever. We grew up on Big Band music- at four my favorite musician was Benny Goodman. I still love it. I liked "Under Pressure" until Vanilla Ice stole the beginning.
