I always had a secret soft spot for Cher, but I will never listen to that "Song for the Lonely" again without thinking of those damn cheesy Weight Watchers commercials.

Because here in the CA Bay Area they play it all the freaking time, but any and all Prince songs. I kind of sort of liked him before, but when they play "When Doves Cry" eighty million times in a day, the sort of like dies into "Godammit, don't they have any other CD's?" Same goes for "Hotel California".

I fucking hate "Jack and Diane" after hearing every cheesy cover band in college doing it.

Those E-harmony commercials have ruined "THis will be" for me. Sure, the song was a bit overplayed on old-skool stations as it is, but now whenever it comes on, I think of E-harmony. *snort* That and the trailers for Must Love Dogs. I cannot listen to Aerosmith anymore, because when I was 20, I was friends with this guy I worked with who turned obsessive stalker on me, and Aerosmith was his all time favorite band. Especially the song "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing". Just hearing that song gives me the creeps. It's a shame, because I used to love Aerosmith. Damn you, creepy stalker guy! And I think it goes without saying-old school Michael Jackson. Thriller was my childhood soundtrack. DAMN YOU JACKO, YOU CREEPY FUCK!

Technically, the song wasn't RUINED for me, but Jesus Christ, Twitney's cover of Satisfaction will go has got to be one of the biggest crimes in music history. What annoys me even more is the fact that her handlers changed some of the lyrics. Here's the original: Here's Twitney's: Brit, I swear I wouldn't have thought you were secretly a man if you had just left the lyrics alone.

Yeah. So speaking of obsessive stalkers, Matchbox 20's "Unwell" makes me nauseous, as does "If I'm Not Made For You" by Daniel Bedingfield (although Ace Young is bringing it back for me with the prettiness by performing it on AI). If they're on the radio I get flashbacks.
Psycho Stalker Ex, who proceeded to run and grab a giant knife and hold it to his stomach in protest when I broke it off with him, who violently threw up when I wouldn't go talk to him in his truck about how much he still loves me, who left 14 crazy messages in 1 hour on my cell phone, saying things like "Don't come home. I'm not myself right now"...played those 2 songs for me to try and win back my affections, on the stereo that he bought me to replace the one he shattered the night I left him. I can still smell the cologne as he's standing there with his arms around me (and why I let him do that after all of that is beyond me), playing the songs, hoping the magic is working, and meanwhile I'm going "Aww. How sweet. Now get me the hell out of here."
I have a hard time listening to a lot of sappy "please come back to me, I need you" songs done by men because it reminds me of the type of guy with a could-care-less attitude, who then *snaps* upon your exit and becomes this clingy, obsessive, sobbing mess who alternates between anger and threatened violence to pleading and flowers, who still sends you the occasional "what's up?" email 3 years later, then gets pissy and calls you an "immature child" when you won't respond.
Oh, and I can't even listen to the first few notes of "The Reason" by Hoobastank without it sending me into fits. When The Current Boy and I were first dating he said this song reminded him of his ex of 10 years and how he really messed up with her. Yeah. Instantly ruined.

That new duet of U2s One. I do'nt know who the woman is but Sweet Sandal Wearing Jesus it's bad. It's not just that their voices are not complimentary but she actually appears to be singing a completely different song. One in a different key.

Spider, the shrieking beast on ONE is Mary J. Blige who for the past few years has been making my ears bleed and my head hurt.

Thanks to the movie House Of 1000 Corpses, I can no longer listen to "Brick House".
