I recently made a mix of 80s college/alternative rock. I dig it a lot and use it for workouts sometimes. It includes: Echo & the Bunnymen, "Lips Like Sugar" and "The Killing Moon" Jesus and Mary Chain, "Just Like Honey" Jane's Addiction, "Jane Says" The Smiths, "How Soon Is Now?" Dead Kennedys, "Holiday In Cambodia" The Clash, "Janie Jones" Beastie Boys, "Hey Ladies" New Order, "Blue Monday" Oingo Boingo, "Dead Man's Party" Siouxsie and the Banshees, "Cities In Dust" Sisters of Mercy, "This Corrosion" I wasn't in college until the mid 90s and didn't really "discover" these bands until then. But 80s alternative is bar none. Make a copy and send it to me. ;D

I requested Cities in Dust in an 80s club once and the DJ didn't even have it. BASTARD.

Talk Talk, Haircut 100, Alphaville, etc. This morning I was driving to work and the radio was playing Depeche Mode--anyone else always bounce in their seat to "Personal Jesus?"

I requested Cities in Dust in an 80s club once and the DJ didn't even have it. BASTARD. Fuck him. "Cities in Dust" was one of the best songs the '80s had to offer. VH1 recently had the Top 100 songs of the 80s ( which I could complain on and on about, but why bother? They've already aired it!). Anyway, by the time it was over, I spent about $7 on iTunes - "OMG! I dont' have THAT!" More favorite stuff: "She Sells Sanctuary" - The Cult "Big Mouth Strikes Again" - The Smiths "Africa" - Toto ( no, it most certainly *won't* be a badass list!)"The Look of Love" - ABC "Vienna Calling" - Falco Anything by Duran Duran (* Waves to Dwan*) Anything by Def Leppard (*Waves to myself*)"No One is to Blame" - Howard Jones "This Town" - The Go-Gos "Angels Don't Fall in Love" - The Bangles There's more - there's lots more, I just can't think of them all!

Sigh. I think "No One Is To Blame" is such a pretty song!

Yay!!! Somebody else loves this song. I like this song so much more than "Amadeus," and I'm not sure if it's because it's a better, more fun song, or if I'm just so sick of "Amadeus" since that's the song of Falco's that always gets picked to be played.
Howard Jones was my first concert when I was 14. I saw him when I was 16 and again at 18. I was so bummed when I missed him on that summer special in 2005 that featured old artists singing their old hits and a new song.

I can't get enough of Siouxsie's "Hong Kong Garden"... I think that's my fave by her.

Jesus! See, this is what happens when you're young and vital during the 80s and now I'm senile! How could I forget "Talk of the Town", "Kid", and "Back on the Chain Gang" by The Pretenders? Hopefully my avatar can forgive me... (*Waves at Dwan again, this time with the foot...*)

It may sounds cliched, but my all time favorite 80s song, I mean the one that I could listen to 100 times over, is the great "Come On Eileen" by Dexy's Midnight Runners. That song never gets old.

Oh yes. This song IS the 80s for me. Other favorites: Welcome To The Boomtown--David & David The One Thing--INXS Anything by Duran Duran (Simon LeBon was cute, but I was IN LOVE with John Taylor) Anything by The Pixies Anything by The Clash
