Okay, first I have to say how awesome the Richard Marx concert story was. That is priceless. Second, I AM the '80s. You guys just don't understand. The only '80s I don't like, at least a little, is just what I don't like today: reggae and jazz (and new age, but who likes new age?). Third...yeah. There's just too much to comment on here. Brass in Pocket. The other day I was getting ready to go out to drinks w/ a group and was freshening up and prepping in the car....I was getting ready to hopefully do some heavy duty flirting with someone wildly inappropriate, and I was playing this song while primping... "I'm special...so special...I've got to have some of your, attention, GIVE IT TO ME!" Good times.

The 80's was totally abou Madonna for me. Loved her! (Still do!) Me too! I think we're the only ones... I always watched Friday Night Videos! Did you guys watch ( on Saturdays and Sundays) Night Tracks? It was on TBS, broadcast out of Atlanta. I swear I'd start at 11 PM and watch videos till 3 AM! And the later it got, the weirder the videos - you had to stay up till 2:30 at least if you were going to catch Lene Lovitch!!

Ha! Love it, Daisy Pusher! S-A-F-E-T-Y (Y)! Confession: Two of my friends and I listened to "It's the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)" over and over and wrote down the lyrics (or what we guessed they are). I think to this day even Michael Stipe doesn't know what some of the lyrics on the Murmur album are though

I love Madonna too - even if she is getting a little crazy in her older age. When she did her first tour ( with the Beastie Boys) I wanted so bad to go to her concert, but my stupid school had Outdoor Ed that week so I had to go camping instead. My Dad however worked a lithography company at the time and they did some really cool postcards that they were selling at the concert. It was a picture of Madonna in triplicate looking really awesome. He brought a bunch home for me and also let me keep all the materials/demos from making them. Night Tracks was required viewing in my house. We didn't get MTV on our cable network until I was around 13. Before that, my grandmother had it and I used to beg to stay at my grandma's house so I could watch the videos. Now I'm bummed that I don't get VH1 classics because that seems to be the channel where they show all the old videos.

I liked Madonna in the 80s but she was considered a hoor by all of the adults around us, so we had to listen to her on the sly a lot. I *loved* Cyndi Lauper though. I still have She's So Unusual on vinyl.

Keep 'em coming Daisy Pusher! ;D So many great band names during the 80s, but for me the funniest experience with band names was that my dad (who was more of a Hank Williams, Sr., Burl Ives, Glen Campbell listener) used comment on how mindless some of "my" music sounded (big generation gap there) and he used to ask the names of bands when I was watching videos. Once I cringed while answering "Simple Minds" and some years later "Garbage", knowing that he'd feel his point was made.

Daisy Pusher, are you kidding? It NEVER gets old! ( Psst... post "Thriller" if you can find it!) My best friend and I used to try to do the "Safety Dance" while we were driving. We'd modify it, of course - the part where he says "Everybody look at your hands", and he pushes his hands back and forth? We'd do that, but the forward hand would still be holding onto the steering wheel - so it was sort of left/right/left/right grabbing of the wheel. We had to be careful - it WAS the Safety Dance!
