As a Blues fan, it's hard to root for anybody in that Detroit v. Chicago series. However, I will put my full support behind the Redwings tonight...

Glad to have my expectations of the Blackhawks losing the series proved wrong.

Poop. You know, I really didn't think Detroit had a chance at the beginning of the series but then they won 3 in a row. And then to lose in OT in game 7 is almost worse than if they had just been swept. Now I know how Leafs fans feel.
Who am I supposed to root for now? The Pens!? The Bruins!? Blech.

Wow. Last night's game hurts. I don't know what the hell happened in those 17 seconds.

Chicago fan here, and even I don't know. Last night, after the Bruins took the lead, I told my husband, "OK, the Hawks are not taking home the Cup tonight," and I was OK with that. Then there was a little more than a minute on the clock and I thought it was over. And then ... I don't know what the hell happened. After the second goal, even Rask just shook his head, like, "I don't even believe that."
I would have liked to see the Hawks win at home, since they were in Philly last time they won the Cup, but hey, I'll take it.
I'm a bad sports fan though. I love the Hawks, but I wouldn't have been upset to see the Bruins win (y'know, just something for Boston to celebrate). And hubby laughs at me because whenever we watch a team win a big championship, whenever they show the losers' reactions, I always feel bad for them. So last night, it was like, "Yay Hawks! ... Aw, the Bruins look so sad. That sucks." Basically, I enjoy watching the sport and don't really care too much about team rivalries.
I went to an "official" Blackhawks bar here in town around 5 and tried to get a table and it was already a madhouse. I cannot imagine what it was like downtown. The footage of Wrigleyville -- eek. Too many drunks, too many people.

I would just like someone to explain to me why the Rangers always lose. I do not understand teams that consistently cannot win the championship game.
I'm not a diehard Rangers fan, I don't even watch professional sports all that much. But teams like the NY Rangers and the Boston Red Sox mystify me.

The NHL commissioner grew up an Islanders fan, so he's instructed the refs to screw the Rangers over should they ever make it to the Cup final. (Why yes, I'm a typical conspiracy-minded Rangers fan. ) He did give them '94, at least, but that was the season I really got into hockey and the Rangers (I was fed up with the obnoxious Devils fans at my school so I responded accordingly). So it would have been awesome to see a Cup victory as a fully formed fan. Of course, I didn't expect they'd get this far this year, but it's still heartbreaking to get this close.

The OT win was a thriller, but I felt so bad for Lundqvist after Martinez scored.
Congrats to the LA Kings!
