I think Roger needs a sports psychologist to deal with Nadal on clay issue - I do think a part of it is mental. And it is only going to get worse after today at least on clay. He came so close to beating Rafa the last two times they played, he was up a set and a few breaks in one of those matches. I just don't understand how he went from that to what we saw today - I know that Rafa was firing on all cylinders but Federer was very unFed like. Luckily for Roger he has a good record against Nadal on the other surfaces - although it will be interesting to see what happens if they both make the Wimby final again. I can't help but wonder if Rafa was thinking about all of his lost chances in last years Wimby final. But the window of opportunity Roger has to win The French is getting smaller every year. (Unless he ends up winning late in his career like Agassi did) I do think though, that Roger will pass the record set by Pete over the next two years and will go down as the GOAT - Rafa on the other hand will clearly go down as the best clay courter, ever. End of story. I would argue, except for the Rome final where Roger clearly choked, Roger's draw has not helped him. In both Hamburg and Roland Garros, Rafa had a much tougher draw then Federer. This helped Rafa become match tough, especially his 3rd set with Djokovic where he took his foot off the gas pedal after being up 5-1. Rafa did not make that mistake today. He applied constant pressure throughout the match and he had no walkabouts. Roger only faced on seeded player- Gonzalez, while Rafa had to go through Djokovic, Almagro, Verdasco, Nieminen; and he still did not drop a set. Roger's movement through the draw was far less impressive.

I don't think it's ladylike, I think it's stupid.

I'm not much of a tennis watcher other than Wimbledon every year but I may have to start paying closer attention to the tournaments because Marat Safin sure is easy on the eyes. Plus his grumpy but not really demeanour is a total turn-on. I am hoping he can find a way to defeat Roger tomorrow but I'm not overly hopeful.
I can't say that I am overly excited about the Williams vs Williams final or the prospect of another Nadal/Federer showdown - I prefer to root for the underdogs and I can't say that applies to any of the 4.

I have tickets for Court 1 today at Wimbledon. All doubles action, which is fun to watch and the Williams sisters will be playing in the first match. Would have loved to see Safin though...wow he is gorgeous!

and it made me like Roger Federer. (I'm a Roddick Rooter.)

Today's mens match was awesome. And I think it's great that Nadal won; him crawling over everyone to get to his family first made me like him even better. This is one of the better matches lately.

That was the best men's match I've ever seen in my life. Absolutely incredible tennis -- either could have won. I felt sorry for Roger (weird, I know, considering he's the best player EVER). He started to cry during his interview with John McEnroe when he said that "it was hard" to lose a match like that.
My favourite match of all time would be Steffi Graf vs. Martina Hingis at the French Open final in 1999. Hingis was dominant until Graf came from behind and trounced that mean little bitch. It was Steffi's last Slam win.

I'm very sad for Roger, he looked absolutely heartbroken in the post-match interview. Rafa is adorable and I'm happy for him after his great match even though I really wanted Roger to win. Rest of the season should be interesting....usually Rafael's season sort of ends after Wimbledon (not surprisingly; the way he plays must take a toll on his body after a few months into the season). Can't wait for the Olympic Games and the US Open. I can't believe we're three Grand Slams into the season and Roger hasn't won a single one of them :-( ETA: people in Spain must be absolutely thrilled at the moment...a week after their football team winning the European title (against Germany ) they also have a Wimbledon champion now...
