I've come to respect Grace Slick. After a reunion tour with Jefferson Airplane, she left the music business and turned to painting. She said years ago that "rockers over 50 should retire." I don't really agree with her; I think it depends on the artist. Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen seem to still enjoy performing, so why not? But for Grace, it was just time to move on. She reached her fifties, her heart wasn't into performing anymore, and she just felt she was too old for it. She's done an occasional benefit performance or guest appearance but seems to be happily retired and comfortable in her skin.
Madonna just does not seem to be comfortable in her skin, and that is sad.

Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen seem to still enjoy performing, so why not? The kind of music they perform lends itself to low-key acoustic performances. Springsteen has a huge band backing him up, too. Madonna's live shows were all about the spectacle of costumes, dancers, elaborate sets, etc. and she's never tried to adapt her performances. I'm not listening to Madonna for brilliant lyrics or musicianship either. I think she could've reworked her live shows to cater to the longtime fans that just want to hear her singing her biggest hits with some throwback choreography. I would pay top dollar for a Vegas show of Madonna singing a career retrospective. But that's clearly not what she's interested in doing.

Not even going to click the link to see what horrors Madonna is foisting upon us. I’m going to keep my fond memories of worshipping her from 1984-2005. Everything after that starting going downhill. I’m so disappointed in her. She could have continued being a badass about aging in the same way she was with sex/sexuality.

I would put Meryl Streep as another woman who looks gorgeous and is over 50. I've never been a Madonna fan (though I love some of her songs), but I had a premonition that she would not take aging well and would go hardcore on the cosmetic procedures. Sadly, I was right and now she looks like a wax Halloween mask that melted in the car. This is beyond depressing for those who are fans of hers.

And then when the Singularity comes, her consciousness could be downloaded into her CGI avatar and she'd get her wish and be forever young!

OMG, I just realized that Angela Bassett is the same age as Madonna (64). WTF is it about Ms. Bassett that she looks so stunning (not stunning "for her age": stunning, period), and Madonna looks so...well, you know. I mean, I am sure that genetics play a role, and having access to the best nutritionists and beauty products that money can buy as well, but Ms. Bassett looks like Angela Bassett (not like an Instagram Mask of a Cher/Kim K monstrosity) and her body still seems in tip top shape. Also, Angela still stand upright, while MAdonna has developed a bit of a hunch (which obviously is not her fault). I am not shaming Madge (I am a life-long fan of her music); I am just longing for the time that she made good choices about her health and her looks. Sharon Stone, also 64, looks amazing, imo.

Oh no! She was found unresponsive and spent several days in ICU. Now is canceling her tour. Get well soon, Madge.

A "serious bacterial infection." That happened recently to the mother of a friend of mine, she nearly died. Those infections are no joke. Hope Madonna gets through it soon!

Am I evil for wondering if "serious bacterial infection" is the new "exhaustion" or if she got a bacterial infection from whatever the heck she fills her face with?
