I'm hopeful. It apparently did better than say, BH 90210, which was supposed to dazzle 'em, and didn't.

I am, too. I have no problem suspending disbelief, so I'm ahead of the curve there. Plus, I really like the way the three leads played off each other--especially Peter and Walter.

JJ Abrams seems to love putting airplanes in turbulence as plot device. I noticed the same music from Lost as well. The leading lady reminds me of different actresses(Kelly Lynch, Kate Hudson) during the pilot. I spent the whole time wondering if she was the blonde from Without a Trace.
It is not the X-files, but I will probably catch the next episode. It was cute how they were watching cartoons with the cow. It's nice to see The Wire's Lt. Daniels getting some work.

I'll bet money that the composer for Fringe (at least for the pilot) is Micahel Giacchino who's composed music for JJ's other shows including Lost. JJ really likes recycling storylines, actors, writers, producers, and composers! Seriously, if you impress JJ you are set for life! The man will find a way to squeeze you in his latest project somehow!

Even if it's for two seconds, like with Greg What's-His-Name, in the Lost pilot.

The encore presentation of the pilot will be on tomorrow night at 8. The stars, Anna Torv and Joshua Jackson will be hosting the 'event' during the broadcast and at the end of the episode, they will show the first act of the second episode.

I liked it, but part of me doesn't want to get sucked into another JJA show because I hate his mythology obsession...
I can suspend disbelief quite easily for MOTW type shows, but not for long contrived not well thought out constantly contradictory mythology.
(Mythology ruined both X-Files and Battlestar for me too....)

I finally got around to watching the episode this morning and I really, really liked it. I was never a Josh Jackson fan until I saw him in a play with Patrick Stewart in London and was really impressed by him.
John Noble was awesome and I'll admit, I'm JJ Abrams bitch. Felicity, Alias and Lost? Love(d) them all. I hope this show does well and it sticks around.

Well, I tried watching the encore and I couldn't get through it. Practically everything was reminding me of of either Alias, Lost, or The X-Files and it just got distracting! I will try it again on Tuesday though. Pilot episodes are the generally the weakest episodes and I'm never blown away by a pilot (Alias and Heroes are the two exceptions). Plus, I did find the relationship between Joshua Jackson's character and his dad interesting. Though I am wondering what is with JJ and fathers? All his shows have characters that just can't get along with daddy! Also, I hope I'm not supposed to hoping Joshua Jackson's character and the Cate Blanchett doppelganger to get together. Because those two are no Syd/Vaughn or Mulder/Scully when it comes to chemistry!
Hey I did make it through the first hour!
