Damn, just catching up on this news. I was a huge fan of the show for the first 4-5 seasons and to a lesser extent now, but I can't see how it's the same show without Kate. Stana got married recently, I wonder if she wanted to take time off to start a family and this affected negotiations? Complete conjecture, but just a thought.

I don't buy the 'Nathan and Stana hate each other' rumour. It's been around for so long and there's been absolutely nothing solid to back it up. I follow a lot of the cast and crew on Twitter and there is a lot of love for both of them. Stana recently married a guy who was around pre-Castle (I believe) which I think puts the affair rumour in a different light.

What I think actually happened is that their insane fans (who seem to hate each other) have affected the way they interact (in public) with each other.

I saw nothing wrong with Nathan's tweet.

I think those rumors are somewhat tied to reports that they both requested to shoot as little as possible together, and they refused to do press together (at least, that shows up a lot in reports). Also, People and Deadline were reporting that Katic wasn't even approached to renew her contract.

But yeah, who knows what happened.

They definitely hate each other, and everyone on set knows it. Fillion's known to be the more difficult of the two, but his ire is mostly directed at her rather than the crew.

I think her dislike of him is more a product of him making no secret of his dislike of her. Like openly mocking her on set, that sort of thing. A lot of it too is that he's one of those "smart and knows it" types. (A lot of his lines are ad-libbed, for example, since he's very quick-witted.) Meanwhile, she's your typical, insecure, needs-constant-affirmation actresses, which seems to rub him the wrong way since he hates being on set any longer than he has to.
