I just hate this Jackson creepy covenant of secrecy. Those people just freak me out...they are like a Cult.

Yep.. it's beyond weird. It's stuff like this that made it hard to completely write off the things Latoya used to alledge before being bought brought back into the fold. I guess this is only coming to light because the girl is now 18. I can't imagine what her life must have been like all of these years. It's amazing to me that the story has been around for years but never really hit the mainstream press. While I think it's completely f--ed up to make a child believe that somehow she is something to be ashamed of, I also think there is much more to the story because while it made career-sense to hide in the 80's, things have been very different over the past 10 years or so. She is still pretty well liked despite the psycho-family and coming clean with a heavy dose of mea culpas would have garnered her sympathy.

I just wanted to say I knew it was odd when "Centepede" was a hit for Rebie, and she had to suddenly stop, because she was pregnant.

Funny, her stomach was flat (Janet's was sporting a bulge) and out popped a baby in couple of months.

What was so odd was the statement that Rebbie made, while she was promoting her career. She said she put motherhood first, and now, that her kids were older, she felt she could pursue her career. At the time, her oldest was 18, one was 13 or so, and it was just strange for no one to ever hear of her anymore.

But Janet is a free, emancipated and grown up woman who knows her own mind now. She is 39 years old, has her own money and resources, lives independently and has been independent and free and knowledgable enough to make her own choices for many years now. That she has never bothered to claim her daughter is clearly because she just can't be bothered to.

I don't agree with that. Yes, as a 39 year old woman, there are certain things that she is more aware of now and one of those things could be why rip a child from a home that she has known all her life just to ease my conscience? The girl was being raised in a (hopefully) safe and loving environment.

Just because she didn't go around parading her daughter in front of ET and UsWeekly like most other celebs doesn't mean that she never claimed her. I actually applaud the fact that Janet has been able to keep so many things a secret while living the life that she lives. If she hadn't, she'd be labeled a famewhore.

I guess I'm just different and don't see anything to condemn her for, which everyone else in the world seems more than ready to do.

But yes, I totally respect Janet for not making a lot of her personal things public and pimping her child/children (apparently she has 3???) to get her name in the press. She doesn't famewhore out her love life either. It's known she's with JD and they attend events together but they don't talk about their relationship to press or try to get attend by acting like the most love couple that ever loved for the cameras.

She seems to take it to an extreme with all the covenants of secrecy...but really overall I think a lot of these famewhoring celebrities should take a page out of her book. I'm so sick of seeing celebrities selling their newborns to the tabloids to get their own stupid faces on the front of a cover.

There are plenty of celebrities who have children and noone's ever seen what they look like and their kids are presumably living an anonymous and fairly normal and happy life out of the public eye. There are plenty of celebrities in relationships or even married and they don't do exclusive interviews about how in love they are or walk up and down all the red carpets they can find PDAing for attention. I love celebs who handle themselves discreetly and have enough resepct for their private lives not to want to **** it out for public consumption.

However none of them actually go so far to DENY they are married or deny ever had children...so I guess Janet's kind of in her own elite class on that one.

ETA: Janet's 2001 Vibe interview - she was promoting the "All For You" album, she was divorcing Renee so her 10 year secret marriage had been exposed. The interviewer decided to ask her if the rumor that she had a child was true. She flat out denied it and said no.

Vibe: Okay, more rumors. Do you have a child?
Janet:That one keeps resurfacing. They say the kid's in Europe or that one of my brothers or sisters is raising it. But, no, I've never had a child.

After all those years, the truth has come out! If the daughter is really angry and upset then how will CMJ kids handle life after they are 18 years old? It is sad that a mother would deny ever having a child. Lot of celebrities make sure their child leads a normal life, they could afford to do the same thing.

The rumor about Janet having a child has been around for years. However, the age for the "child" doesn't add up. Someone who is 18 years old now would have either been born in late 1986 or 1987. Therefore, unless Janet and James reconciled for a brief moment after 1985 (in 1986 or 1987), this "child" couldn't be theirs.

Plus, how does "Young DeBarge" know this information? He was a mere child himself during Janet's and James' brief union in 1984. So, one can presume he was told this information by family members (if the rumor is true)? Nevertheless, in my opinion, if one is going to dispel a rumor, at least have the facts backed up with proof, e.g., correct age, birth certificate, or the like before going public.
