Heh. It's like if my mother attempted to write a trashy novel.
I'm going to read TLM when I'm done with OINE and then maybe something by Judith Krantz.
HA HA. I just got to this part. There's also the scene where David tells his Dad that he saw January and Mike making eyes at each other during dinner. Ewww.
Is the lesbianism coming up soon? I'm guessing so, since she was so repulsed by David's peen. She's either a) gay, b) in love with her father, c) off her rocker, or d) all of the above.
The part where Keith took her to the Off-Broadway play had me LOL'ing all over the place. I wish there were lyrics to the song.
eta: Rut Row! I had January pegged as a lesbian, but it's really Karla and Dee. I didn't see that coming. It's getting so complicated. I love it.
huntergrayson, could you post the links to these?
I'm at the part where Mike just caught January in bed with Tom. "Are you jealous?" LOL and Eww.

So hunter just lent me OINE, and now I understand the Goodyear Blimp with "Welcome Home January" reference in Scruples II!

There's an OINE reference in Scruples II? Awesome. I really need to get some Judith Krantz from the library. I've never read anything by her before. Which of her books would you recommend, Dwan?
The ending of OINE was wonderfully odd. January was abducted by aliens, right? That's how I interpreted it.

*avoiding spoilers* I'm only about thirty pages in so far.... Hmmm, for Krantz, I'd start with Princess Daisy, Mistral's Daughter or Scruples.

Here is a link to that Salon story, you might have to watch one of their free ads to view it. Sex and the Single Credit Card. And chick lit today totally sucks. I agree way to much trying to find a man and not enough good old fashioned fucking. I remember reading VOTD along time ago, and seeing the movie. Sharon Tate was so beautiful, I'm off to amazon to buy pretty much every book mentioned in this thread. Thanks.

I'm reading The Love Machine right now and there's plenty of fucking. Me likey. There's also a glamorous fashion model who's dying from leukemia who has not one, not two, but three men who are all desperate to marry her. Two of the would-be fiance's know that she is dying and have decided to keep it a secret from her. She thinks she's just anemic.
Dwan, My library has Scruples (1 & 2) and Mistral's Daughter. Yay!

Loved Scruples and loved Princess Daisy, especially because the movie of the latter introduced me to Rupert Everett as her brother.

I should be packing all my books away, like, yesterday, in preparation for the Big Move next month, but I started in on VOTD this weekend. I am not going to pack the Holy Susann Trilogy so that I will have some fun reading over the next few weeks as time permits. Right now I am up to the point where Jennifer is engaged to the senator, but has just been diagnosed with the big C.
Although I generally prefer books to their filmed counterparts, in VOTD's case, the film and book are apples and oranges. Although the film's Gillian Cosmetics commercial is awesome.

And the awesome Neely montage, plus her general overacting.
So, Hollywood Divorces was lame to the core, but I'm really digging Lucky. There's soooo much sex, I love it.
The Love Machine is next up.
