I missed the episode, what happened re: the recount?
As far as Kalinda, I theorize that she will be "killed" in an explosion or something, but will actually go into witness protection. So everyone will think she is dead, but the door is left open to have her return (assuming Juliana Margulis (sp?) *allows* it).

I missed the episode, what happened re: the recount? There was a microchip-type thing found in one of the electronic voting machines, so the accusation was that it was rigged. After several twists and turns, it turned out that the chips were put in back when Peter ran for governor. The party muckety-mucks told Alicia to take the blame, and when she told her attorney for the preceding, who was being paid by the party, that she wanted to fight but also what the Party guy had said, her attorney declared during the proceeding that he'd just learned that Alicia was behind it and he couldn't in good conscience continue. Then she went home and cried on Peter's shoulder.

Thanks! So Peter and Alicia's elections were rigged? And Alicia is taking the blame for it? Is she still elected or will she be booted (or resign)?

It should be noted that the DNC purposely rigged the election machines for another candidate on the ballot, a Democratic candidate for state representative. If Alicia doesn't resign, that race might be called into question too. The DNC is forcing Alicia to take the fall because they can't risk losing their two-thirds super majority in the state house.
The question now is how much knowledge Peter had. As the governor, he's the party leader and it would be strange if he didn't know something.

I'd forgotten about the whole "keep the super-majority" part . . . probably because it's so rare for incumbents to lose in Cook County that I blocked it out as unrealistic. [Chicagoan]

So...is this seriously it for Kalinda? This is her goodbye? Will we ever get to know what was in the note to Alicia? Something like, "Sorry for donking your husband all those years ago. I'm leaving forever - bye!!"?
I'm beginning to think the rumors that JM refuses to work with AP are true, because the way Alicia and Kalinda were never together in the same room is effin' bizarre and of course Kalinda leaves before Alicia comes home.
Whatever, The Good Wife. What. Ever.

Seriously they could not film one freaking final scene together!? The Kings when asked if Alicia and Kalinda were ever going to have a proper scene before Kalinda left swore there was something big coming up between the two of them. They also said how Kalinda left was going to be unexpected. I think everyone predicted this. I don't even care what is in that note.
I also thought that after everything that happened in the episode it is ridiculous that Diane and Cary would dump Alicia because the rich Republican client they have had for all of two weeks told them to.
This show. Last week's episode was so good and they follow it up with this bs.

How silly was it when Kalinda looked directly into the camera while saying goodbye? Ugh.
I'm glad Alicia isn't going back to Lockhart Agos. Far too much mistrust and paranoia on both sides. Time for yet another reset.

Is a 7th season pickup a sure thing? I feel like the show is on its last legs. And how stupid is Cary? Kalinda played him time and again, and he tells Lamond's driver that he ratted on him to the state's attorney's office? I agree on RD's request, though it makes sense. The Florick name is (or should be) a joke in Illinois right now. So many scandals. Would hoity toity clients really want to be rep'd by a Florrick? I realize names/reputations can be rebuilt, but it takes time.
If the show does come back, I wonder if they do a major time jump?
At this point, I'm just tuining in for Matthew Goode's 2.3 lines an episode.

I haven't paid attention to this show in ages but hearing about Kalinda's departure made me look for reviews. Something must have happened backstage - the AV Club said it has been 50 episodes since JM and AP were in a scene together.
