I haven't paid attention to this show in ages but hearing about Kalinda's departure made me look for reviews. Something must have happened backstage - the AV Club said it has been 50 episodes since JM and AP were in a scene together. that's over 3 years.

Whatever happened between Margulies and Panjabi, it must have been really fucking bad that they couldn't even film a goodbye scene together. Margulies has never struck me as a Mean Girl, but she clearly has a lot of influence with the writers.

Its not just Kalinda. That is the most glaring example, but Alicia barely had any scenes with Cary or Diane this season. I guess you could say it was dictated by the plot but even when it seems like she have a big scene with one of them, they cut around it. Like last night when Diane and Alicia reconciled, they just fade to black before they talk. And if Alicia doesn't end up back at the law firm its going to be even worse. She'll be working with mostly guest stars and Grace and Peter next season. I hate to think that JM is an egotistical biatch, I've always liked her as an actress. But it has really been noticeable how isolated she is from everyone else this season to the detriment of the show.
Anyways, now the producers are saying Kalinda will be in the finale and that fans will be really happy with her scenes. I'll believe it when I see it.

I mean, what is so bad that they haven't shared a scene in 50 episodes? I suppose they could have one in the finale, but still - 50 episodes. They couldn't suck it up and be professionals for a few hours every now and again? If JM was jealous, it wasn't enough that Kalinda hasn't had jack to do since they aborted her ill-advised husband storyline? I'm sure Hollywood drama happens all the time, but I think this seriously derailed the show in a lot of aspects.

Well on an ABC show, the leads hate each other. In negitiations for next season, one lead made it clear he/she doesn't want a single scene with the other lead. Said cast member has enough clout to make it happen. Will the show suffer? Yep. Does ABC care... not enough to tell said actors to act like adults who are making millions and suck it up.
I never liked Kalinda because I thought she was a one note character- a sexually aggressive wonder woman who could miraculously get answers when needed. However, I feel really sorry for Archie if she had to deal with all that drama behind the scenes. Eventually that news will come out (That JM is a selfish actor who's not interested in the collaborative process).
Did anyone go to Paley Fest this year? How did JM act with Chrisine and Matt? Was Alan there?

Not a bad episode but I laughed at the "new" flashback scene where Kalinda and Alicia are talking and yet never in the same shot. I've seen more seamless integration on Orphan Black.
Do I care whether Alicia and Finn start a new firm? Not really, it'll just feel like a rehash with Florrick/ Agos which never got the chance to play out. Who is at the door? Again I can't say I really care but my hope is that it is David Hyde Pearce. And he offers her a job at the SA's office. Just because it'd be something different.

This show scored a .9 last night. I'd be surprised if it comes back next year. Maybe as a mid-season replacement, but I really doubt it will get a full order.

Its C3 ratings are decent, especially with 25-54 and 35-64, it's the most critically acclaimed show on the network, and Les Moonves was at Julianna Margulies's Walk of Fame Star ceremony last week. The only way it wouldn't come back is if the Kings or Julianna decided they didn't want to do it (and JM probably still has one more year on her contract).

I think the plan was for seven seasons, which means one more. CBS has always kept it around due to its prestige and ability to earn Emmy nominations when they almost exclusively go to cable/streaming shows now. They may pull the plug, but the ratings aren't usually terrible (not fantastic, but not terrible either) and the audience is largely wealthy, so I wouldn't be surprised if CBS renews it to see it through to the end.
Though if it did get canceled, at this point I wouldn't be that upset. I mean, what is happening here? Alicia is starting her own firm. Again. How long before Cary (and probably Diane) follow her? Alicia gradually got darker and darker until the corruption she started to embrace bit her in the ass, so now she's back to St. Alicia and only wants to do good stuff (well, at least until she's strapped for cash and Colin Sweeney comes knocking) and we see her struggle to remain "good" in the face of doing shady stuff with the law to help her clients. We've seen it before.
And I'm just rolling my eyes at the Kalinda/Alicia stuff. She spent so much of this episode reminiscing about their friendship when everyone knows we haven't seen their friendship on screen in three years because of some petty backstage bullshit. It's hard to buy those moments as a result.
And if Kalinda comes back for the final and they actually share a scene together, I won't be all "Oh, yay! One last moment with the friends!" I'll be thinking "Oh, look at who put her big girl panties on and decided to act like a professional at the 11th hour!"

Was Alan there? Martini Girl, is the ABC show you speak of Castle? Something about JM has rubbed the wrong way since the ER days, so I don't find it hard to buy that she's a beeyotch. Shame it had to affect the show, though.
