That was a great game and series! Bummed for the Jays, but congrats to the Royals and their fans.
Go Mets!

Ok, I'll show myself out.

That was painful but they always lose the first game in the WS (lost the first two in '86 and still won the series). It's rally time for Game 2!

That was painful. Like a root canal. The Mets blew another lead in the 9th and the bloodletting began. We have work to do next season (like opening the purse strings and financing some big bats) and then I think we'll be back.

The Royals do not let up, they run down teams and wait for mistakes and take advantage; once we tied up and it went into extra innings I knew we had won it.
I am so exhausted today. Up until 1am, toddler was up at 5am. But so worth it. So so worth it.
(Totally contemplating driving 8 hours south for the parade; that's not crazy, right?)

Last night I had a dream that the Royals won the WS. And then I woke up. And it was still real.
I literally can't even process this. I remember as a kid back in '85 watching TV and asking my dad "why are those men pouring bubbly on each other?". After that moment, all I knew of KC baseball was despair. I watched in 2000 when Johnny Damon, Carlos Beltran, Jermaine Dye, Mike Sweeney & Joe Randa all played on the same team and we thought there was hope and in '03 they had a winning season and almost made the playoffs. And then I watched as all those promising players were traded away and became stars for other teams and KC hit rock bottom with three 100+ loss seasons in a row.
And then the Wild Card game last year changed everything. And since then it's been some weird surreal alternate world where Kansas City baseball is King and there is just something different about the city. It's a sense of pride and community that radiates blue joy from everyone and everything. It really is glorious!

Right there with you, jynni! I do kinda miss the early 00s, when tickets were dirt cheap, you had a whole row to yourself, and the lemonade man was more popular than the team But I'm so happy today, still. Haven't felt this giddy since the 'hawks won in 2008!
